Tech Golu is back at Kumaraguru Institutions for this Navarathri Season! 

Every Navarathri Golu arrangement narrates a legend from the Hindu text. Taking inspiration from Navarathri Golu, students from Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) made “Tech Golu” arrangement at ‘Mahalingam Vigyan Bhavan’ in the campus by placing prototype and working models of their research projects. The arrangement reflects the research acumen of students who have come up with new inventions and innovative solutions. 

Some of the projects displayed in the Tech Golu include a multirotor drone prototype featuring a cutting-edge payload delivery system, an electric trike named e-Trike that combines the agility of a two-wheeler with the stability of a four-wheeler, RFID system that records attendance by scanning RFID tags embedded in ID cards using an RFID scanner. This provides an efficient and automated way to track and manage attendance data. i-Practise, an innovative tennis ball throwing tutor that utilizes player position detection technology. This apart, Amateur radio, Yagi uda antenna, Transceiver, Pneumatic Solar Tracker, Fixed Wing Plane, Nano Drone, 3D printed models and Covid bot were some of the other research projects of students displayed as part of the Tech Kolu.  

Kumaraguru Institutions Host Anna University Zone XI Athletic Meet 

Over 500 students from 15 Colleges across Coimbatore took part in the Anna University Zone XI Athletic Meeting organised at the Kumaraguru campus between 18-20 October 2023. Dr. S Kamala Kannan, Associate Head, Department of Physical Education, Kumaraguru Institutions welcomed student athletes from different colleges and declared the Meet Open. The three-day event had students participating in 21 events in men’s category and 19 in women’s category.  

The athletic team from Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) won the overall championship in the men’s category with a total of 101 points. Whereas the team from Government College of Technology (GCT) won the overall championship in the women’s category with 119 points. GCT team won the second spot in the men’s category and Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (SREC) won the second place in the women’s category. SREC and KCT teams won the third place in the men’s and women’s category respectively. D Vimala, Director of Physical Education, GCT, Coimbatore was the Chief Guest of the event who felicitated the Achievers besides handing over the overall trophies and certificates.  

AICTE-IKS Centre For Natural Fibres and Natural Dyed Handloom Products Inaugurated 

The Department of Fashion Technology of Kumaraguru College of Technology and KCT Business School marked a momentous occasion on October 9, 2023, by jointly inaugurating the AICTE-IKS Centre For Natural Fibres and Natural Dyed Handloom Products. This significant initiative, aimed at promoting sustainable and traditional textile practices, was well supported by industries, and celebrated with great enthusiasm and participation from esteemed dignitaries, experts, and artisans from various handloom weaver cooperative societies. 

Around 200 participants comprising handloom weavers, dyers, cooperative society managers, handloom department executives, industry representatives, faculty members and students participated in the inaugural event. Shri C. Sivakumar, Assistant Director, Department of Handlooms, Government of Tamil Nadu, graced the event as the chief guest and deliberated the importance of Geographical Indication. Dr. D Saravanan, Principal, Kumaraguru College of Technology welcomed the state department officials, managers, executives representing various weaver cooperative societies of Coimbatore, Pollachi and Sirumugai cluster. Dr. G Ramakrishnan, Professor, Head – Centre for Natural Fibres and the Principal Investigator shared the initiatives on new product development and training programmes of the centre.

Initial Meeting of KCT Alumni Startup Circle Held at Bengaluru 

The Initial meeting of the KCT Alumni Startup Circle took place on October 7th, 2023, at The Park, Bengaluru, with 10 enthusiastic alumni attending the event organised by the KCT Alumni Relations. The focus was on exploring the possibilities of student internships and exciting collaboration prospects. Each alumni member eagerly stepped up, offering valuable insights into the internship opportunities within their startups. Their common goal was to empower students with hands-on learning experiences, nurturing practical skills in a dynamic startup setting and they promised to provide internships for KCT students in their startups. 

Animal Welfare Forum of Kumaraguuru Institutions Inaugurated 

Animal Welfare Forum of Kumaraguru Institutions – an initiative driven by shared passion for the welfare and protection of animals was launched at the campus on 09 October 2023. Ms. Kesica Jayapalan, the esteemed founder of “Dogs of Coimbatore,” graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the forum. 

Lauding Kumaraguru for taking up such initiative towards the welfare of stray animal, Ms Kesica said that such forums led by students in colleges will help in effectively addressing the issues surrounding stray animals. She said that a lot of issues related to stray animal crop up because of the general ignorance among people. She pointed on two primary issues which require immediate attention to bring down stray animal conflicts in the urban settlement like Coimbatore. Unregulated population of stray animals has to be checked besides managing waste properly. Wherever we find waste, we can find stray animal. This needs to be avoided to avoid conflicts, she said.
