Kumaraguru Institutions entering the landmark 40th Foundation Year on 27 September 2023 was observed with much grandeur in the campus which also marked the beginning of a year-long celebrations. Posters were erected across the campus, besides social media posts announcing the historic milestone achieved by the institution. The celebration started with early morning prayers at Arulmigu Gnana Vinayagar Temple followed by interreligious prayer at Gnana Mandapam.

To mark the auspicious occasion, a ceremonial cake cutting was organized in front of the Mahalingam Vigyan Bhavan where a 40 kg cake was cut in the presence of faculty members and staff. This was followed by a group photo session of the teaching and non-teaching staff. Cake cutting happened in every classroom and faculty members were given gift hampers as a token of gratitude for their service. T Leelakrishnan, Manager, Finance and Accounts Department and P Karuppiah, part of the Guest House hospitality team have been serving the institution since its inception. They were felicitated by the management during an event in the evening.

KCLAS Visual Communication Students win Laurels at National Level Short Film Contest

Students from the Department of Visual Communication, Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science (KCLAS) won Special Recognition Award at the National Level Short Film Contest ‘COMMUNITY MEDIA CHALLENGE (CMC) 2023’ conducted by Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA) and UNESCO. This is the second time that Kumaraguru students from the Department of Visual Communication have emerged victorious in this prestigious contest.

The film ‘AGIRA- The Ray of Hope’ clinched the 4th Special Recognition award, showcasing the incredible talent and dedication of the students. The team comprised of Sanjay, Mathi Pugazhenthi, Darsana, Alan Antony, Kathiravan, Nahul, Premnaren, Pavan Krishay, Preanushkar, Reshika, Pressanna Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Harshitha and Gnanashivanathan.

Bharat Blockchain Yatra (BBY) happens at Kumaraguru, first of its kind in Tamil Nadu

To create an awareness on blockchain technology among students and provide them with valuable hands-on experience, Kumaraguru Institutions hosted Bharat Blockchain Yatra (BBY) in the campus on 25th September 2023. Hosted by Kumaraguru School of Innovation (KSI) at Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT), the event was organised by Information Data Systems (IDS), powered by Hedera, and supported by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The Bharat Blockchain Yatra represents a pioneering endeavour in India, focused on Web3 and Blockchain technologies.

A total of 800 students attended the event that boasted a distinguished lineup of speakers, featuring prominent Blockchain Thought Leaders and esteemed Industry Experts. Attendees gained a clear understanding of this transformative technology and its real-world applications. They also had the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge tools and frameworks, ensuring they stayed current with the latest developments in the field.

Students Took to Leadership Positions at the Investiture Ceremony

On 27 September 2023, Kumaraguru Institutions conducted the investiture ceremony for its newly – formed Student Leadership Council for the year 2023-2024. The first Student Leadership Council of Kumaraguru was formed in 2016 which sought to involve student efforts in improving the experience of the collective student community, while also leading them to their personal success.

This is the 7th Council of Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) and 4th Council of Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science (KCLAS). The council consists of leads representing department and other verticals. This year, over 300 students went through the four-stage process and 51 exceptional individuals were nominated to the Leadership Council considering several parameters.

Wishing the students during the event, Shri Shankar Vanavarayar, Joint Correspondent, Kumaraguru Institutions said leadership is not a power, it is neither prestige nor a position. It is a responsibility. The leadership council is just not a representative council, but it will help the institution and students to do something better, something new and do things more differently. We are here to make co-creation.

Dyers Trained on Ecofriendly Silk Dyeing Technology at Kumaraguru

A training programme on ecofriendly silk dyeing technology was jointly organized by the Departments of Textile Technology and Civil Engineering, Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) Coimbatore, for the dyers in Sirumugai and Sathyamangalam regions on 17 June 2023 and 14 September 2023 in the college campus. The training programme was organized under the project “Ecofriendly Cost-Effective Silk Dyeing Technology for Rural Women Upliftment of Sirumugai Weaving Cluster” funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India under the Women Scheme of SEED division.

About 75 dyers and weavers participated in the training programme. A machine was developed exclusively for sectional multicolour dyeing of silk hank. Hands-on training was provided for the operation of dyeing machine and a simple cost-effective effluent treatment process. The training program was conducted by Principal Investigator R. Sukanya Devi and Co-Principal Investigator Dr. A. Geethakarthi. On behalf of the management of Kumaraguru College of Technology, Dr. D Saravanan, Principal, Mr. A Pavendhan, Associate Dean of Textile cluster, Dr. V Ramesh Babu, Head of Textile Department presided over the session.
