Ever wondered what hardships and efforts they put behind those gleaming flaps and their perfect uniforms?
An NCC journey towards Republic day in shots, to speak a thousand words!
“The more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in the war “
NCC teaches discipline, leadership, patriotism, self-improvement and interest towards the defense of our nation. The young cadets are trained in a way to equip both their minds and bodies to serve society and shape themselves to face any challenge. Only when you come out of your comfort zone, will you be able to notice your talents. This is an attempt to depict the hardships and the strenuous challenges overcome by the cadets in their endeavor to excel in life as well as serve our great country. These are glimpses of their unwavering dedication and rigorous training
Even though the body is tired and longs for sleep, it’s not the buzzing sound of an alarm that shakes the cadet from their sleep but rather the responsibility and determination for excellence are what wakes them up.
Long before the sunrise, the dark and serene mornings are echoed by the thundering stomps of the cadets as they march towards the parade ground. At the breaking of the beautiful dawn , the love for our country is glorified as they salute the National Flag with pride and valor.
” We are what we repeatedly do.Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit ” – Aristotle
The cadets practice over and over again , that perseverance and resilience do become a part of their lives.
They stand as firm as the mighty rifle in their hands, as they beat the tiredness and hardships that come towards them.
“No one can whistle a symphony. It takes a whole orchestra to play it.”
Unity is the backbone of success. Each and every cadet’s thoughts are synchronized which leads them towards the perfect path of success. The perfect display of alignment shows their coordinated minds.
It’s just the start of the long story.
With sweat-soaked clothes and light in their eyes, the cadets gear up for their next journey of learning with a cup of coffee and plateful of food that comes as a boost after a long session.
“Doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment.” – Oprah Winfrey
Consistent training of both body and mind prepares the cadets as strong as a rock both mentally and physically. They learn to rise above the hurdles and shine with discipline that continues with them even after the parade ground.
Their arm goes longer than the swing, their body acts like a rock, their legs cut over the path. There is no better words to describe them
The folded and joined hands personifies the unison of the cadet’s thoughts and actions.
This training is a continuous reminder for the cadets that together they are strong.
The Mighty Lion is the king of the jungle for its ability to protect its territory and lead with roaring voice. A parade commander is the one who leads their squad and he is trained to get a bold voice as sharp as a knife. The cadets do follow some practices to attain this.Pepper is considered to be mandatory during the practice for a clearer voice. The pushing of stick against the stomach is to examine how their voice can reach beyond the extreme.
This particular position helps to control the breath when they give commands. The slanting position of the lead, helps in stiffness.
The voice which comes from the abdomen splits in the vocal cord and reaches the air with high frequency.
The robotic position of the cadets in the savdhan position ensures no movements and cadets stand with a brisk face. For the hand raised like a sword, their sweat and belt together add extra color.
In savdhan position the cadet’s legs should be together. And in the vishram position, the legs should be in a limited distance to maintain the alignment.
The alignment in the savdhan position seems like a scale where someone can draw a line using the positions of the cadets as reference.
The tired boots pleads for rest. Sometimes the cadets’ legs cramp and shiver as a result of their heavy day and night practices.
“All the real work are done in the Rehearsal period” – Donald Pleasence
The cadets have strenuously trained day and night. They have put full effort to complete their training. Not even wasting a single minute they have stretched their limits to the maximum extent, and they are now resting because it would be impossible to push forward. Despite these difficulties during the parade, they are not bothered by it. They practice even in the night with full josh. They woke up the sleeping birds in the quiet environment to listen to the sounds of their booted legs stamping the ground. They are looking forward to the result of their efforts.
Mock test shows your preparation and improves your confidence. The cadets get ready for their rehearsal to rectify themselves before the arrival of the most awaited day.
Freedom lies when equality starts rooting. With the fearless and confident attitude, the sword bearing women stands with pride beside the national flag, getting ready to lead the contingent as the overall parade commander.
With lot of pride and little nervousness, the whole squad steadily stand to showcase their efforts and dedication they’ve been practicing.
The uniformity, massive boot stomps ,and the proud salute for the soldiers who sacrificed their lives shows our cadets’ love for our nation. The pride sight does give the spectators goosebumps with tear sparkling in their eyes.
Receive :Words are mightier than sword. They either heal or hurt you. The instructions and suggestions to the cadets that motivates and improves their performance. It also acts as a medicine for their physical and mental pain.
Analyse : A lead should guide the team.Along with the lead, each cadet’s suggestion and point of view is important
for a better performance henceforth it is analysed. These discussions also builds a healthy bond between them.
Incorporate ; Finally, only when you bring your ideas into action it works. The cadets face, with full josh, shows their extreme effort with a continuous pace in their practice, and patriotism towards their work and towards our Nation.
“Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country”-John F Kennedy
Republic Day has been celebrated every year in India on January 26, since 1950 to honor the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect. India was a colony of the British for over 200 years and became independent from the rule of the British following the Indian independence movement.
The NCC of KCT celebrate this day by doing the honors for our national flag and they showcase their drill.
Having proper haircuts and neat shaving is a part of the cadets‘ responsibility and they take pride in maintaining the quality with perfection.
Beret is a part of the cadet’s uniform. Seniors tie towels to set the Beret perfectly on the junior cadets’ head since the new berets are rigid and it hard to fit on the head.
The joy they get when they wear the Beret for the first time is indescribable.
As a cadet they don’t get sufficient rest for a week before the republic day, so they take rest whenever they get time.
Nearly 30 minutes is spent to polish their boots and their work is paved off when the boots shine like a mirror as they march
The crease in their pants will be as sharp as a sword and the uniform looks as brisk as them.
The first-year cadets were super excited to wear the costume they have received for their skit and here they are checking whether it is a good fit for them or not.
The parade commander is getting ready with Josh. It’s his last year in NCC and you could obviously see the satisfaction in his face.
CSUO R.K.JAGA PRIYA was the overall parade commander of the drill and CDT SGT D.PIRADEEP was the parade commander (PC) of the Air wing contingent.

The flag area which was about “valor and heritage” had been decorated by Army wing girls.
Those priceless smile they get, after giving Goosebumps through their performance.

These are the precious moments for the cadets as they are appreciated for the hard work, dedication and commitment they had put through. One can clearly see the satisfaction and the pride in their face.
The passed-out cadets are delighted as they’re well aware the efforts of each cadet behind the scenes
Moments to cherish! These are the moments the cadets will cherish for the rest of their lives with joy and big smile imprinted on their faces.
It’s not that easy to be an NCC cadet, it tests all your endurance, confidence and patience. There is no substitute for the bliss that comes after completing your work with utmost perfection. This is one such moment.
Finally! It’s done. All the struggles and hardship has been paid off, it’s really an incredible feeling to experience which cannot be put in words. They strive very hard starting from the month of January to the night before the republic day. They even sacrificed their holidays to practice for this big day. Now, they have done it better than the way they thought. ”We get what we work for, not what we wish for”. They have done their “THE BEST”. It was astounding that they balanced both their academics and NCC perfectly. They had shown us the importance of republic day through their dedication and we should also pledge to work hard towards the development of our nation.
