Hands on training for the faculty of Civil Engineering

Department of Civil Engineering, Kumaraguru College of Technology in association with ICI Students Chapter and APlus+NDT, Coimbatore organized a workshop on Non-Destructive Testing Techniques for Concrete Structures, on 22 August 2019. About 83 external participants and 35 internal participants attended the workshop to explore the intricacies related to Non-Destructive testing. 

Dr.N.Ramsundram, Head, Department of Civil Engineering  delivered the welcome address. DrK.Ramadevi, Associate Professor/Civil Engg introduced the Chief guest, Mr.B.Lawrance, CEO, APlus+ NDT, Coimbatore. Mr.B.Lawrance elaborate on the process and methods of Non-Destructive testing and its application in various fields. He emphasized on the methods, uses, procedures and the equipment used for non-destructive testing in the field. During the Session II, Mr. Lawrence shared his expertise from APlus + NDT and presented the case studies of various projects done by them. During the post-lunch session, demonstration on various NDT equipment available in Structural Technology Centre of the department was done. Also hands on training on Rebound Hammer apparatus, Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Tester and Rebar locator was given by and Dr.V.Selvan and DrK.Ramadevi. Mr.G.Ganeshmoorthi and Mr.P.Kamaraj of STC assisted in demonstrating the equipment. The participants gained a practical knowledge about Non-Destructive testing methods for concrete structures.
