On 23 February 2022, Books and Beyond Kumaraguru conducted an online session named “Tug of words” between 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The discussion was held utilizing the MS Teams platform. It is a space where we can voice our opinion about culture learnt in our mother tongue, without getting criticized by others.

A brief welcome and a small introduction were given by Naufia Haseena N. The participants shared their own views on how language plays a big role in knowledge. All of the participants were enthusiastically taking part in the discussion. Each one of us told us how to learn our culture in our own mother language is.

We talked about how India in a diverse country with over 300 languages in use. And why is learning our mother language important nowadays? And also, the effect that will bring us and the further generations.

Many languages are becoming existent because we are not using them in our day-to-day life, like Greek. We must not forget our language and teach our children about its importance. So we can at least protect the languages we have now.

In conclusion we agreed on the point that no language is more important than the other. And that all languages are to be given equal importance.
