Delegates from Tel Aviv University, Israel visit Kumaraguru to discuss on workable collaborative projects

A team from Tel Aviv University (TAU) led by its President Professor Ariel Porat visited Kumaraguru Institutions on Friday to discuss on the possibilities of working on collaborative projects. President of TAU was accompanied by Konstantin Platonov, Asia Engagement Director, Tel Aviv University International, Professor Milette Shamir, Vice President, International and Gary Sussman, co-founder, India Alpha Capital. Shri Shankar Vanavarayar, President, Kumaraguru Institutions along with D Saravanan, Principal, Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) and Dr Vijila Edwin Kennedy, Principal, Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science (KCLAS) welcomed the TAU team to the campus. Enhancing exploratory research, encouraging innovative learning methods and building an ecosystem to accelerate entrepreneurship are the common ideas that Tel Aviv and Kumaraguru Institutions shared during the discussion. Later in the day, Professor Porat inaugurated a research centre of excellence in microscopy at the Biotechnology department of KCT. The centre is partially funded by DST-SERB (Govt of India). It is a state-of-the-art biological imaging facility focussed on development of cutting-edge technologies combining computational and biological methods. The centre will serve as a bioimaging hub for researchers based in Coimbatore and nearby region. The centre is currently equipped with inverted widefield epifluorescence microscope supplied by Carl Zeiss (A renowned microscope manufacturer based in Germany). The delegates from TAU were taken to Forge – an incubation enterprise at the Kumaraguru campus where they were briefed on the ongoing projects and future plans of Forge. They also visited N Mahalingam Centre for Tamil Research (NMTRC) where they got an insight in to the history of the country especially the southern India. They were briefed on the cultural heritage of the subcontinent though archaeological evidence displayed at NMTRC
