Ms. Niveda Ravikumar, Founder, Green Delight Innovations & PhD Scholar, KCT and Mr. Gowtham S, Co-Founder, Green Delight Innovations & KCT alumni’s start-up idea of plastic-free sanitary napkins made of plant fibre was recognized as one of the top 10 socially impactful business innovations in the country in the Swachhata Startup Challenge – 2022 announced by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). A total of 244 unique applications were received from 23 states and union territories, out of which, Green Delight Innovations Pvt Ltd, the Tamil Nadu start-up, is the one and only start-up to get qualified for the top 30 from Tamil Nadu and win the TOP 10 Award. Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs presented Swachhata Start-up Conclave under the Swachh Amrit Mahotsav providing unparallel opportunities to start-ups. The conclave has the motive to set new benchmarks in sanitation and waste management catalysing start-ups to make garbage-free cities.
National Level IEI BLC FCRIT Excellence Awards 2022
Ms. Nithyaa Shri R B and Ms. Lokitha T, alumni from the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of Kumaraguru College of Technology won the National level IEI BLC FCRIT Excellence Awards 2022 under the Academic Excellence category.
Launch of Building Information Modelling & Management (BIM) Program
SEA virtually launched the first batch of Building Information Modelling & Management (BIM) Program certified by BIM Academy, UK; Northumbria University, UK & Ryder Architect, UK on 14 September 2022. The program was launched in presence of representatives from BIM Academy and SEA. The program will be handled by trained faculties from UK and India. Participants will go through practical-oriented sessions for 12 weeks. Internationally recognized certification will be provided to the participants at the end of the program. BIM is the foundation of digital transformation in architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry, and it is widely used in leading organizations in the industry. BIM is used to plan and visualize the entire project during preconstruction before the shovel hits the ground. Space-use simulations and 3D visualizations allow clients to experience what the space will look like offering the ability to make changes before construction starts. BIM is the latest notable change as a technology solution. There are abundant career opportunities in the industry and there is a great need for a skilled workforce for BIM professionals in Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) organizations.
Inspector of Police, Mr.P.Arun from Coimbatore City Cybercrime Police reached out to second-year BE/ B.Tech students of Kumaraguru Institutions on Monday, 19 September 2022, to orient them on the misuse of virtual private network (VPN), social media and cybersecurity incidents.
Switch and Solve
The Department of Computer Science Engineering, KCT, conducted an event titled Switch and Solve on 15 September 2022 at DAA Lab. It was an engaging activity that let the participants switch between systems and bring their problem-solving skills to action. This event was organized as a part of Engineers Day. The event winners were awarded with cash prizes up to Rs.1300.
Information Technology – Refresher Program
The Department Association of Information Technology, KCT, organized Refreshers Program on 20 September 2022 in Networks Lab for the II-year students in order to introduce them to the insights of the department. Workshops and quizzes were conducted on various themes to keep the students engaged. This event served as a milestone to enter the department for the second-year students.
Awareness Rally on Electric Vehicles
The Research Forum of Kumaraguru participated in an awareness rally on electric vehicles conducted at Racecourse, Coimbatore, on 09 September 2022. Mr.G.S.Sameeran, Coimbatore District Collector, flagged off the rally that was organized by the Society for Smart E-mobility (SSEM). The team presented the e-trike as a solution for an easy commute and a pollution-free future through the rally. The participants of the rally drove the vehicles for 10 km at a slow speed to create awareness among the public. Many of them carried placards on the advantages of electric vehicles with a hope that electric vehicles will create a new world. The world would change a lot with electric vehicle. There are so many things to think about when it comes to electric vehicles. The 2Pi is an electric three-wheeled trike specially designed by the team for the purpose of intra-campus mobility in a sustainable manner. The design is made in such a way that it is compact enough to run through the narrow pathway and it also supports turning the vehicle around in a 4ft path. The design could be modified in accordance with the customer’s requirements. Overall, 2Pi is an eco-friendly intra-campus mobility trike. This e-trike is a pollution-free resource saving the environment.
