Independence Day Celebrations 

Kumaraguru Institutions joined the nation to celebrate 75 years of Independence and Dr.B.K.Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Chairman, Kumaraguru Institutions, hoisted the national tricolour on this important event and delivered the Independence Day Address. The parade by the NCC (National Cadet Corps) cadets gripped the audience with a patriotic fervour, which was followed by a rally of the vehicles including competitive vehicles, trikes and e-bikes designed by the Student Research Forums, Re, iQube and Garage. Ensuing this, flower petals were showered on the tricolor by the drone designed by the student research forum. Later, the students performed martial arts and yoga. The academic and research accomplishments of the students at the national and international forums were recognized and certificates were awarded to the deserving students. 

Campus Sustainability Tour 

Kumaraguru Microcosm organized an event titled Campus Sustainability Tour on 18 August 2022 at Kumaraguru Campus. Kumaraguru Microcosm is an eco-sensitive initiative by Kumaraguru Institutions with a vision to create a campus ecosystem of balance and influence. The Campus Sustainability Tour is a two-kilometre guided tour through the Kumaraguru campus with 7 stops that highlight some of the most prominent examples of environmental-friendly initiatives. Right from rainwater harvesting tanks, tree nurseries, biodiversity parks, waste management systems and environment-friendly buildings, the campus is full of features that help reduce the effects of climate change. Kumaraguru Institutions host interested visitors once every 15 days to witness the sustainability initiatives taken within the campus. The highlights of the tour around the campus include Ahimsa Vanam – A tranquil forest patch with over 150 tree species, Solar power generation – About 40 percent of the energy needs to be met through solar power, Tree Nursery – Nurtures over 70 rare tree species with an annual target of 1.4 lakh seedlings, Percolation ponds – Two ponds with 50 lakh litres and 35 lakh litres capacity to harvest rainwater and Sewage treatment plant – Domestic sewage generated within the campus is treated through moving bed bioreactor (MBBR) technology and processed water is used for irrigating the greenery across the campus.  

K Launcher 

The KCT Business School and Career Empowerment & Entrepreneurship Development Centre launched K-Launcher, Kumaraguru’s Annual Career Empowerment Programme for the students of KCTBS batch 2021-23 to align academics with the expectations of the industry on 16 August 2022 at Swami Vivekananda Hall. Dr.Mary Cherian, Head- KCTBS discussed on the topic of Equipping Self and the importance of upskilling. Shri Shankar Vanavarayar, Joint Correspondent, Kumaraguru Institutions, presented about the Limitless Career opportunities around the world and to make their respective journey with purpose. The training program brochure was launched, and the event ended with the Vote of Thanks. 

Department Events

Workshop  at Bosch Learning Campus

The Department of Languages and Communication, School of Foundational Sciences, KCT and Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions had a meet up and Workshop on 18 August 2022 in Robert Bosch Learning campus, Bangalore. The workshop was to discuss the syllabi and framework that KCT team prepared for the employees of Robert Bosch. The discussion between the teams commenced with context setting by Ms.Jeyanthi, Head, Binoculus Centre of Excellence for Global Communication and Collaborations, Robert Bosch, who emphasised on Bosch Global Software. Dr.Arun Prakash A, Program Manager, Global Business Communication Competence Development, BINOCULOUS, RBEI, HR – Learning & Development, Coimbatore, set the context by emphasising on language proficiency, culture, hierarchy and mindset. Dr.B.Arokia Lawrence Vijay, Head, Department of Languages & Communication, KCT, set the context for presenting the curriculum plan, development and execution of two courses – Accent Neutralization and Global English and Business Writing Essentials. On behalf of the department, Dr.S.G.Mohanraj and Dr.C.Tissaa Tony presented the syllabi. Ms.Jayitha Mukherjee, Intercultural Expert and Trainer of Robert Bosch handled a session on Accelerated Learning.  

Club Events 

DoNation 

The Rotaract Club of Kumaraguru conducted an event titled DoNation on 15 August 2022, the 76th Independence Day. They visited the Panchayat school of Anjugam Nagar (which is one of the villages adopted by KCT) to encourage young students to develop and improve their vocabulary and to aid them in their academics. They distributed 135 dictionaries for all the students from class 4th to class 8th as per the school’s request and requirements. They strongly believe that education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. 

Nurturing Young Minds 

The NSS, RRC, VBC clubs of Kumaraguru organized an event Nurturing Young Minds at Panchayat school of Anjugam Nagar (which is one of the villages adopted by KCT) on 15 August 2022. To support the cause, Group-2 GRR Vijay Vignesh of RI District 3201 came to the event. The group was surprised to see a student with exceptional poetical skills who has published books. Overall, this event was very impactful. The school consisted of 120 students who actively participated in all the competitions. Headmistress Ms.Stella Devi and 10 faculty members from the school helped in organizing the events. The entire team got astonished with the enthusiastic performance and participation of the students. Events like race, drawing, singing and dance competitions were conducted for primary school students. Prizes were distributed to all the winners. Children are an extraordinary blessing to any nation; they are the greatest gift to humanity. They have limitless potential and are useful human resources for the progress of the country. These little ones are not only a vital source of state but also a change agent. This Independence Day was celebrated in the most meaningful way by nurturing young minds. 

Enroute – The Orientation 

The Rotaract Club of Kumaraguru organized an event titled Enroute – The Orientation on 25 August 2022. This event was handled by PDRR.Rtr.PP.Ajai.S, focusing on enlightening the board members about their roles and responsibilities. He had been sworn as the president of Rotaract Club of CUG in the year 2012-13. He received the privilege of outstanding GRR and district trainer in 2013-14. The rotaracters were enlightened about the history of Rotaract, the four-way test, avenues of services and their roles and responsibilities. The purpose of this event was to increase the understanding of the club among the members and to provide information about how it operates. Overall, the goal of this event was to better inform Rotaract’s newest members about the organization. This was an important event because it served as an introduction to the club and its proceedings to its new members.
