Crossing the Line 

Crossing the Line marks the beginning of a new batch in Super60, Kumaraguru. This batch is set for the journey with 32 upcoming S60 graduates who will immerse themselves into a rigorous self-explorational process in the next 12 weeks. On 25 April 2022, Crossing the Line happened for the 8th Batch of Super60 with renewed energy and enthusiasm. The event included activities like reading the commandments, gratitude calls with well-wishers and crossing the line. As the student bounds to cross the mark, it indicates that they will put themselves whole heartedly to the process of evolving themselves and pushing their boundaries to know each other and learn together.

PGDDE Batch-8 Programme – Recruitment Process 

Sakthi Excellence Academy (SEA) – KCT conducted the Online Entrance Exams for recruiting students for PGDDE (Post Graduate Diploma in Design Engineering for Oil and Gas Industry) Batch-8 Programme on 15 and 16 April 2022. There were Round 1 & Round 2 Exams for Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, E & I and EEE disciplines. Around 1000 candidates from across 20 States in India took the exams. Students were from GATE and Non-GATE categories. Candidates were tested for their basic and advanced technical skills, Logical Reasoning and Aptitude. Candidates who made the cut based on their performances in Entrance Exams were shortlisted for the Technical and HR Interviews held on 19 and 20 April 2022. Officials from Cameron, a Schlumberger company and Professors from Kumaraguru College of Technology served to be the panellists for the interview processes. Finally, 31 candidates were selected for the programme, which is to commence from the first week of May 2022. 

Tool Techie  

The Department of Civil Engineering, KCT, conducted an event titled Tool Techie on 25 April 2022 at C Block. This event mainly focused on guessing the basic AutoCAD tools. Since this software is widely used in the industry, it is important for us to know the basic commands and shortcuts. The participants were active throughout the event and understood the importance of using this software. 

Microbial Culture Preservation Techniques 

The Association of Biotechnology (ABT), KCT, conducted a hands-on workshop on the topic Microbial Culture Preservation Techniques on 27 April 2022. This exclusive workshop on preservation of pure culture included various short term and long-term techniques for culture preservations and operation of critical equipment. This workshop was handled by Mr.Muthukumaran P, Assistant Professor II, Department of Biotechnology, KCT, and was open to research scholars, undergraduate and postgraduate students. It was a full-day hands on training workshop.   

Club Events 

Sports Talk 

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, KCT, conducted an online seminar on Sports Talk on 25 April 2022 at B Block. The topic of the online seminar was the importance of sports in KCT & importance of physical fitness. This session was handled by Mr. Mukesh Kumar S, Sports LC. The session turned out to be very interesting. A brief idea about the opportunities in sports was given to the participants and also about how it helps in placements and grabbing the jobs opportunities. The speaker also explained about the future of taking sports as career. The session was totally a mind-blowing and gave enough knowledge about sports to the participants. Around 25 students took part in the session. This event was conducted mainly to remind students about the importance of sports and to enhance their interest in sports. 

Robotics with MATLAB 

The Department of Mechatronics Engineering and Robotics & Automation Club, KCT, conducted an online session on Robotics with MATLAB from 24 to 30 April 2022 via MS Teams. The resource person was Mr.Shams Naveeth, Trainer at Jazrix Innovations Pvt. Ltd. He has trained thousands of students in the field. Day 1 was on history, types & laws of robotics, key factors to design and develop a robot, and software used in robotics. Day 2 covered topics like introduction to Matlab & Simulink models and functions, creating Simulink robot models and running it. Day 3 was on the introduction to Robotics playground, developing virtual environment, and interfacing virtual robot for movements. Day 4 was on basic mathematics needed for robot development kinematics and dynamics. The Day 5 was on introduction to state flow adding a chart, transition and implementing wall tracking. Finally, Day 6 covered the topics like implementing wall tacking robot and had doubt clearing sessions.
