Blood Donation Camp 

The Voluntary Blood Donors Club of Kumaraguru organized a blood donation camp titled Eedhal Nandre on 11 April 2022 at KCLAS Seminar Hall. The guidelines for blood donation were clearly explained to the volunteers. The volunteers had registered themselves for this blood donation camp. Around 250 volunteers registered and a total of 140+ units of blood was collected and donated to the Government Hospital. 

Department Events 

Refresher Program on Defensive Driving 

The Department of Automobile Engineering, KCT, conducted a one-day Refresher Training Program on Defensive Driving on 12 April 2022 at Swami Vivekananda Hall. The resource person for the event was Mr. Gokulakrishnan, ABT Maruthi Suzuki Driving School. The discussion points in the workshop were the types of road markings, first aid, causes of accident, how to improve attitude, safety policies and driving simulator practices. The objective of the event was to inculcate the knowledge of safe driving and fleet maintenance tips among the participants. 

Quiz Champ 

The Department of Civil Engineering, KCT, conducted a quiz contest titled Quiz Champ on 12 April 2022 at C Block. The topic of the quiz was based on personalities, sports, places and much more. The winners were selected based on their performance and they were awarded a cash prize of Rs.500 each. The objective of the event was to showcase the participants’ knowledge about various fields in different rounds. 

Water Analysis Techniques 

The Department of Biotechnology, KCT, organized a workshop on Water Analysis Techniques on 11 April 2022 at Biochemistry & Microbiology Laboratory. The resource persons for this workshop were Dr.M.Muruganandham, AP(SRG), PSG College of Technology, Dr.Vinohar Stephen Raphael, Associate Professor & Head DOA, Mr.K.Karthik, AP and Mr.Joyal Kingsley, Senior Technical Sales and Services, Hanna Equipment. This workshop was about testing and sampling water, which is crucial to determine the quality of water. The workshop was packed with insightful lectures and hands-on training sessions on performing water analysis. The workshop encompassed a wide range of techniques that are essential in monitoring water quality, thereby ensuring that it is free from contaminants. The objective of the event was to enhance the inherent potential of the students pursuing a career in biotechnology and beyond.

Space Talks- 14 

The SEDS Club of Kumaraguru organized the session 14 of Space Talk Series on Analyzing Data Sets from Spectrometry on 16 April 2022 through Microsoft Teams. The speaker of the event was Dr.Indhu Varatharajan, Postdoctoral Associate at Center for Planetary Exploration (CPEX), Dept of Geosciences, Stony Brook University, New York & Co-l of MERTIS payload on BepiColombo. The outcome of the event was that the participants came to know and learnt how the data sets obtained by performing the spectroscopy are analyzed to reveal the fascinating answers to the mysteries of the universe. 

AI with Space Application Workshop 

The SEDS Club of Kumaraguru organized a two-day workshop on AI with Space Application on 11 & 12 April 2022. Day 1 of the workshop began with an introduction to AI. Participants were taken through the basic concepts involved in AI and were briefed about their applications in space technology. On Day 2 of the workshop, some more advanced concepts like Pattern recognition software using coding were taught and real-time problems were dealt with. The event outcomes were that the participants were taught about the Artificial Intelligence which is considered as one of the most recent developments of the era. The workshop also invoked an interest in such applications among the participants. A sneak peek into the real-time problem-solving methods gave them a hands-on experience in the applications aspect. 

Escape Room 

HAM Club of Kumaraguru organized a live event titled Escape Room on 07 April 2022 at Tutorial Hall, Department of ECE. The event was a fun-oriented event where the participants were asked to form a team of three members and collaborate to solve a variety of puzzles by finding the clues and completing tasks to find the answer, which helps them to escape out of the room. Ms.Monika M and Ms.Amrisha R R coordinated and executed this event successfully. This event was successful enough to attract as many as 34 teams, where 102 participants took part in the event. The winners were selected based on the time taken for them to find the clues and the final answer. The winners were rewarded with cash prizes.  

A Journey Through HOPE 

The Books and Beyond Kumaraguru conducted an interactive online session titled A Journey Through HOPE on 10 April 2022 through MS Teams. A journey through HOPE was an interactive session where we got to know about behind the scene experiences and got a peek at what went into the making of “HOPE “, a short story anthology. The event commenced with a brief welcome address delivered by the Club President, Subiksha. The book HOPE was an anthology written by nine writers. Three of the writers, Ms.Lakshmi Palaniappan, Ms.Nakshatra and Ms.Simrithi graced the occasion and shared their personal views and perspectives on their journey of writing. It was an inspiring session where we got to know about all the obstacles they faced from the very beginning and how they overcame them. Following this, the writers were asked several questions about the process of writing and publishing a book right from the storyline to the cover design. The writers answered every question sharing their experiences with the participants. It was an insightful and eye-opening session overall.
