Department Events
Crash Courses – Power Electronics 101
The Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of Kumaraguru College of Technology organized a technical event on the topic Crash Courses –Power Electronics 101 on 28 March 2022. The speaker was Ms.Bavishna, a third year EEE student, who is also an intern at Ré. Around thirty students attended this webinar which gave insights about power electronics. The session was more interactive. It explained the scope of this field in the present world. It also gave insights about the project ideas in this domain and ongoing projects in our college related to this domain and showed a path to learning power electronics. At the end of the session, the speaker suggested some books to explore more about power electronics and the event concluded with a question-and-answer session.
Wordints
The Department of Information Science and Engineering, KCT, conducted an event titled Wordints on 30 March 2022. A total of 20 students from various departments participated in the event. The event was conducted as a team event consisting of two rounds. In the first round, the participants must guess the words through the clues given by a teammate. The second round was a story-building round in which the participants built interesting, imaginative and creative stories, even though the provided words were mostly technical. It was really an event filled with lots of fun along with learning. The participants also provided positive feedback at the end of the event. The outcome of the event was that the participants were highly enthusiastic during the entire event and the story building round was great fun. The major outcomes were critical thinking and gaining knowledge of technical domains.
Skillkit Workshop Series
The Departments of Electrical and Electronics Engineering & Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, KCT, organized an event titled Sustainable Research and Invention on 02 April 2022 through MS Teams. The speaker of the event was Ms.Dhiksha Mohan, President of EEE Department Association. She explained that sustainable technologies have come a long way in the past few decades driven by environmental awareness. Making progress with implementing sustainability is vital to secure a safe future.
Five-Day Training Program on Practical Course on Electric Vehicle
The Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, KCT, organized a 5-Day Training Program on Practical Course on Electric Vehicle from 28 March to 01 April 2022 at Project Lab, EEE Department, KCT. The topic covered in the event was Introduction to EV Technology, Comparison of EV with IC Engine vehicles, Architecture of EV, Basic Electric terminologies, Vehicle dynamics, EV Motor types, working and construction, Motor selection criteria, Converter for EV, Two wheeler controller functions, Battery types and battery selection criteria, Battery management system, Charger and its selections criteria, EV Charging stations, Testing standards for EV and Charging stations, EV Engineer as a career, Government initiative and TN policy. The practical training was also given on Motor Assembling and Dismantling, Two-wheeler EV controller components and measurement of its parameters, Charger components and measurement of important parameters such as voltage, current and power, Battery Soc. Voltage, degradation checking, DC fast and slow charging, Vehicle speed adjustments for two-wheelers.
Alumni Talk Series – 6
The Department of Biotechnology, KCT, organized an event titled Alumni Talk Series – 6 on 26 March 2022 via MS Teams. Mr.Gokhul Venkatesh Babu, Senior Associate Staff Development Scientist at Bayer, US. (Batch 2016) served to be the speaker of the day. Studying abroad is a dream for many of us. This event was a step forward toward our future and to know more about study abroad programs and scholarships. The interaction with the alumnus made the participants update and clarify their queries for their future careers ahead.
Club Events
Herbal Walk
The Nature Club of Kumaraguru conducted an event titled Herbal Walk on 30 March 2022. This event was organized to make the students educated on all the medicinal plants available in KCT campus. From this event, the students were able to understand how these medicinal plants are useful in our day-to-day life. Also, the students came to know the importance of Siddha Medicine in the medicinal field. Dr.Manikandan, who is working in Sakthi Siddha Medical Center helped the participants to learn about the importance of Siddha Medicine and herbal plants in the campus. It is planned to conduct such event every week for the interested students to study all the medicinal plants available in the campus. The outcomes of the event were the importance of herbal plants, knowledge of how to use medicinal plants and knowledge about the herbal plants available in KCT were disseminated to the participants.
