KCT signs MoU with ZeusEV

The Department of Automobile Engineering, KCT, and M/s ZeusEV (Electric two-wheeler startup) located at Coimbatore signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 16 December 2021 at KCT Premises. The MoU envisages collaboration in Electric Two-Wheeler developments which includes electric vehicle design, mechanical components development, EV testing and validation. The outcomes of the MoU include joint product development, industry driven projects, internship opportunities for UG/PG students, and faculty members. The MoU was signed by Mr. K.Ashwin, CEO and Managing Director Zeus EV- Bizlogix, Coimbatore and Mr. G.Muniasamy, Executive Officer, Kumaraguru Institutions.

Industry Academia Collaboration

Mr.Seshadri Mukundan, CEO, Flexol Packaging Pvt. Ltd. and Head – Packaging Business, TVS Supply Chain Solutions, Chennai, visited Kumaraguru College of Technology on 16 December 2021 to activate the MoU that was signed recently. Mr.G.Muniasamy, Executive Officer, Dr.D.Saravanan, Principal, Dr.Joseph V Thanikal, Director from KCT, Dr.Mary Cherian, Head of the Department and Dr.B.Poongodi, Assistant Professor – Marketing from KCT Business School were part of MoU initiation and introductory session. Shri.Mukundan shared the outcomes on the packaging consultancy assignment given to KCT Business School.  Both the parties discussed on the industry academia collaborations in terms of seminars, guest lectures and research.  Mr.Shankar from Indo Korean Chamber of Commerce put forwarded the opportunity to work with a Korean Agro Machinery firm using multidisciplinary approach.   Delegates visited the Mahatma Gandhi Central Library and appreciated the RFID technology implementation, resources and the learning facilities. Mr.Sanjiv Srinivasan, Assistant Professor and Placement Incharge, KCT BS had a one-on-one interaction regarding the internship, placement and soft skills training opportunities for the students at KCT Business School.  An interactive discussion lead by Mr.Seshadri Mukundan with the faculty members of KCT Business School was organised by Dr.B.Poongodi.  Faculty Members from Marketing, Finance, HR, Operations, Entrepreneurship and Analytics domain took part in the interaction. Mr.Mukundan cited a few industrial problems and how it was solved by them. Dr.Mary Cherian emphasized on the interdisciplinary research and consultancy work based on the discussion.  Dr.R.Vinayagasundaram and Ms.Shobika K, I MBA delivered the vote of thanks. Namadhu Pangu Volunteer Activity

As a part of Kumaraguru’s Namadhu Pangu initiative, volunteers from KCT and KCLAS collaborated with Project Prayogshala. The volunteers visited the Union Panchayat High School in Udayampalayam on 13 December 2021 and had a fun learning session with 7th and 8th-grade students. An ice breaker session was conducted by the volunteers to connect with the children and understand their mentality. Games like “Simon says” were organized, the students thoroughly enjoyed it and that made the session more interactive. After the ice breaker session, the students were provided with colorful papers, pens, and crayons. The students were asked to draw something close to their hearts. The response we got from them was overwhelming. Creativity spurred in each one of them. Some students came up with sketches of healthy earth – stating that they want our world to be covid free. And others came up with beautiful illustrations of their dream houses, favorite mobile phones, etc. The students portrayed their desires in an alluring way on paper. The feedback we got from the students gave us immense pleasure. They wanted more activities, more craftwork, and more ways to keep feeding their brain creativity. It was a refreshing experience to see students get actively involved in the process of self-development and social well-being.

Road to Placement Series

The Department of Languages and Communication, School of Foundational Sciences, KCT, conducted an Industry Interaction as a part of the Road to Placement Series on 15 December 2021 via MS Teams.  Mr. Aravind Prabhu Dewakar, Human Resources Business Partner, Aditya Birla Health Insurance Company Limited, Chennai, served to be the Guest Speaker and deliverated on the importance of getting industry-ready engineers. Mr. Aravind completed his PGDM in Human Resource Management in Singapore Institute of Commerce and has worked as a Human Resource Business Partner for more than 11 years with extensive exposure in multinational, multicultural environment.  He has worked across various sectors like Automobile, IT/ITES NBFC.  He has also served as Human Resources Analyst and Recruitment Consultant in Accenture, Renault Nissan Technology and Business Centre India, and Smart Hire – A Division of Times Business Solutions Ltd.  He deliberated on the nuances of making industry-ready engineers and shared his experience of recruiting more than 2000 candidates.  His inputs regarding the syllabus and curriculum, importance of soft skills and communication skills for the students helped to understand the current industry needs.

Reconstructing Emotional Well-being of Teaching Fraternity for New Normal

The Department of Languages and Communication, School of Foundational Sciences, KCT, organised a Two-Day Virtual Workshop on Reconstructing Emotional Well-being of Teaching Fraternity for New Normal from 10 to 11 December 2021. Dr. Shobha Bantula, Founder and Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Centre for Psychological Well-being, Hyderabad, introduced the participants to the Spectrum of Emotional well-being. Dr.C.Gnanaprakash, Lead, Department of Psychology, KCLAS, dealt on a topic of immense relevance “Unclutter your Mind” which was very well-received by the participants. Ms. Padma Anil Kumar, Founder Director, Sittara, Chennai, brought out the Dynamics of Emotional Health and its asymmetry drawing illustrations from our personal and professional lives and Mr. Babu Rangarajan, Clinical Psychologist, presented on Reconstructive Measures to strike the right balance between work and life. There were 114 participants from 12 Indian states actively engaging in the workshop. Dr. Tissaa Tony and Dr. Hema from the Department of Languages and Communication organized this workshop.

Hands on Training in TIFAC CORE

The Department of Textile Technology, KCT, organized a hands-on training session in TIFAC CORE for two days from 16 to 17 December 2021. The session mainly focussed on the 2nd year and 3rd year students. TIFAC CORE which stands for Technology Information Forecasting and Assessment – Council Centre of Research and Excellence is an esteemed laboratory of the department. It consists of Advanced Manufacturing lab and Advanced Testing lab.  Mr.Kavikumar V of final year Textile Technology served as the session in-charge. There were 103 participants for the event. A demonstration of all the machineries and instruments of production and testing was done.

OMICROUIZ

The Association of Biotechnologists (ABT), KCT, conducted an online quiz through MS forms titled OMICROUIZ on 15 December 2021. The quiz was open to students from all the departments. The students enthusiastically participated and showcased their brilliance by rapidly answering the questions. Though some of the questions were very tricky, the students tried to answer them with confidence. The participants found this competition very informative and knowledge enriching.  There were 40+ students for the event. The quiz helped them to identify what they know and that they don’t know about Omicron, the latest variant of the corona virus. The event helped to create awareness about the new corona virus variant among the students.

Human Rights Day celebration

The Department of Physics, School of Foundational Sciences, KCT, organized Human Rights Day celebration event on 10 December 2021. The welcome address was given by the Human rights and RTI course Coordinator Dr.R.Balamurugan.  Dr.H.Arul, Head-Physics Department, welcomed the gathering. The Guest speaker delivered a Lecture on Human rights. Quiz competition was also conducted and the results were announced instantaneously. The event helped to create awareness among the students about Human rights.

The Research Forum on Quantitative Research 

KCT Business School organized a Quantitative Research in Finance- Data Driven Decision Making on 11 December 2021. The session was handled by Dr Anu Anna Jossan, Economist & Senior Fellow in Higher Education (SFHEA), Qatar. There were 38 participants inclusive of KCT BS faculty, students and faculty members from other institutions across India. Dr Anu shared her Research work on “Critical Thinking (CT) Skills Gap in Data-Driven Decision (DDD) Making: An Exploration in the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) Industry” which she is currently working on and due for publication on a reputed journal. She elaborately outlined her problem statement on critical thinking skill gap in BFSI industry, the wide sampling gathered across several countries, the details on the analysis employed in the paper and the outcomes of the research work. The outcome of the event was knowledge sharing on the conceptual framework on developing paper on Data driven decision making in BFSI.

Business and Investment Opportunities in Sri Lanka

KCT Business School conducted a Guest Lecture on Business and Investment opportunities in Sri Lanka on 10 December 2021. The event was conducted in order to provide industry connect and an opportunity to start a business in import and export. Mr.Harridaran Periyannan, Investment Services Officer, Sri Lanka, provided a quick reprise of why it is important to pursue entrepreneurship. He gave details of the environment for investing in Sri Lanka. Elaborated on the skill set of people in the country and various investment options available.
