KCTBS Swagatham 2021

KCT Business School, one of the top-ranked Business Schools welcomed the freshers of MBA Batch 2021-23 for the induction programme, Swagatham 2021 on 15 November 2021. The event started with the invocation followed by floral tribute to Arulchelvar Dr. N.Mahalingam Ayya. A video reception by faculty members and students was played, and  Dr.Mary Cherian, Head of the Department, KCT BS, welcomed the gathering and motivated the students to dream and aspire. In the Presidential Address, Shri. Shankar Vanavarayar, Joint Correspondent, Kumaraguru Institutions, explained the ecosystem of Kumaraguru campus and thanked the parents and the students for choosing KCTBS.  Dr.Joseph Thanikal, Director, KCT, shared his guidance towards the pandemic situation and the overall perspective of being successful in career. During the Felicitation, Dr.D.Saravanan, Principal, KCT, shared his thoughts on the book titled Hit Refresh by Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft and about the diversity in the admissions recorded. Dr.Vijila Kennedy, Principal, KCLAS, advised the students to build their skills and competencies. Reflections of students and parents by Ms.Makila Vellingiri and Mr.Ravichandran showcased the trust that they have bestowed upon the institution. This was followed by introduction to various facilities available in the college.

MCA Swagatham 2021

Kumaraguru College of Technology, with a legacy of 37 years of academic excellence welcomed the freshers of MCA Batch 2021-23 for the induction programme, Swagatham 2021 on 15 November 2021.  The event started with a prayer song by Ms. Shreya, Ill Year, EEE. Dr.Manikantan.M, Head, MCA, shared his thoughts on the plenty of research opportunities available in the college during his address. In his Presidential Address, Shri Shankar Vanavarayar, Joint Correspondent, Kumaraguru Institutions, shared that educating people contributes to the growth of a community and trust with a positive aspiration gives the institution a lot of hope, belief and responsibility. This was then followed by the Principal Address by Dr.D.Saravanan, Principal, KCT, and reflections from students & parents.  A brief introduction about Ignite 2021 was given by the Ignite Team.

Scholastic Talk Series

An Invited Talk titled Campus to Corporate Transition was arranged as a part of Scholastic Talk Series by the School of Foundational Sciences, KCT, on 20 November 2021 via MS Teams.  Mr.Bhuvana Sundar Soorappaiah, Program Manager, Automotive Division, Robert Bosch, Coimbatore, addressed the Project Based Learning (PBL) students of KCT regarding the nuances that are to be followed to become industry-ready engineers.  Mr.Bhuvana Sundar Soorappaiah has over 17 years of experience in industry in the fields of Project Management, People Management, and Research Development. He is a specialist in PMP, PMI ACP, PMI Professional in Business Analysis and in Six Sigma Certification and has pursued his Masters in Telecom Engineering in Germany.  During the session, he shared his experience in industry and guided the participants on how to choose problem statements for engineering projects along with various other strategies that are to be followed while carrying out projects.  There were around 80 participants for session.

Awareness on Financial Markets and Opportunities for MBA Grads

KCT Business School organised a Guest Lecture on Awareness on Financial Markets and Opportunities for MBA Grads on 11 November 2021. The Speaker for the event Dr.K.Prabhakaran, Empanelled Resource Person SEBI and NCDEX & Trainer of NCFE, discussed about the basics of stock market, precautionary measures to be followed in stock market, regulatory bodies, mutual funds, selection of mutual funds, gold bonds, electronic gold, intraday trading, portfolio management, risk appetite and placement opportunities. The main outcome of the event was that the participants were able to understand the basics of financial investments.  

Connecting Business and Engineering

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, KCT, conducted an event titled Connecting Business and Engineering on 14 November 2021. The speaker Ms.Deniela Grene, Associate in Business Development, Zycus, is also a KCT alumnus of Aeronautical Engineering Batch 2020. She connected the dots between engineering and business during her presentation. She also explained the role and importance of engineer in the marketing world. Around 30 participants attended the webinar to identify, discuss and explore how to create business with an engineering background and its benefits. The main motive of this webinar was to eliminate the barrier between business and engineering.

Future Trends in Automotive Industry

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, KCT, organized an Alumni Talk on Future Trends in Automotive Industry on 13 November 2021. A total of 65 participants attended this program. Ms.Jayadharashini Vijay, (KCT Alumnus 2013-17 Batch ECE), Senior Hardware Engineer, L&T, Chennai, served to be the Guest Speaker for the event. This event gave insights to technologies like ADAS, V2X, Telematics and Future of Electric Vehicles. Importance of electronics in reshaping the automotive industry and basics of electric vehicle design challenges were discussed. Also, the future career prospects in this domain were highlighted.  The event served as a platform to the students to learn how to identify challenges that will impact the future of the automotive industry. The participants understood the concepts very well and were happy to learn new things.

Guest Lecture on Animation and VFX

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, KCT, organized a Guest Lecture on Animation and VFX.  The speaker of the event was Mr. Ravi Shankar Raju, Head of Agile Delivery at Foundry, London, who is also a 2007 Batch KCT alumnus. He presented about Agile transformation and the process to impact people through VFX on the topic of Stepping into the VFX Industry. Attendees of this webinar had a better understanding about various animation and VFX tools and technologies.

Club Events

Literary Coven

The Books and Beyond club of KCT conducted an event titled Literary Coven, a reading session on 10 November 2021. A literary coven is a small group of students who gather to read and discuss a piece of literature in depth. The main aim of the event was to encourage thoughtful discussion and a love for reading in young people. The intent of literature circles is to allow students to practice and develop the skills and strategies of good readers.

Climate Clarion

The Association of Biotechnologists (ABT) conducted the Climate Clarion, a Group Discussion, on 16 October 2021. In order to celebrate the World Science Day for Peace and Development, this GD was conducted on the topic, “Could climate change lead to the end of life on Earth?” in order to create awareness and act towards preventing the climate change. There were six teams, who energetically participated and voiced out their valuable points on the topic making the entire event wholly beneficial to everyone. 

Earth Zone

The Association of Biotechnologists (ABT), as a part of Sciencestain, to celebrate the World Science Day for Peace and Development, organized a Poster Presentation on 17 November 2021 through MS Teams. The presentation was on the topic Sustainable Technologies and Innovations for Climate Action, and the panel members included Mr.Sanjay, Final year Textile Technology and Co-lead of Ré Project Management Team, Mr.Prakash, Final year EEE, Vice President RAC, Vice-chair iEEE and Ms.Subiksha, Final year Biotechnology, President Books & Beyond Club. Several teams presented their innovative ideas to the panel, which made the event very informative.

Improvathon

The Drama Troupe of KCT conducted an event titled Improvathon on 17 November 2021. Totally 8 teams participated in this event. Through this event, the participants were able to develop their acting skills. One-line situation was given to the participants on the spot, and they developed the given situation using their creativity. First two teams were awarded with prizes and two teams scored a special mention for their acting and innovation. The participants were able to overcome their stage fear through this event.
