Design and Simulation of Antenna using HFSS and CADFEKO 

The HAM Club of KCT organized an online workshop on Design and Simulation of Antenna using HFSS and CADFEKO on 29 & 30 October 2021. The speakers for the event were Mr. Karthikeyan R, Faculty Coordinator – HAM Club, Mr.B.M.Sai shiva, Ms.K.Hari Priya, Ms.R.Shavya and Ms.B.S.Rachagha Prabhaa – the members of the HAM Club. The main objective of this workshop was to make the participants aware of the Design and Simulation of Antenna Using HFSS AND CADFEKO. It was a two-day event where the Day 1 sessions included parameters and procedures for the Antenna Analysis, Design and simulation of Half Wave Dipole Antenna using CAD-FEKO, Design and simulation of different Arrays using CAD FEKO, Design and simulation of Microstrip Patch Antenna using CADFEKO and Demonstration on the testing of Impedance characteristics using Network Analyser.  Day 2 sessions included Metamaterial theory, Metamaterial cell design and simulation, body wearable antenna theory, design and simulation. This event provided an opportunity to the students to expand their knowledge of this software. The participants were given opportunities to raise their questions which were answered with utmost care.

Department Events 

Refresher Training Session – 1 

The Department of Textile Technology, KCT, conducted a company specific training session on advanced clothing concepts for final year students via MS Teams on 26 October 2021. The session was handled by Ms.C.Meena Lochana, Project Executive, M/s Advanced Clothing Concepts, Coimbatore. She elaborated on various practical points on interview skills, readiness, and attitude built-up in interview process. The session exclusively delivered elaborate technical discussions on core concepts and basics of garment manufacturing, market and company based possible discussions that are bound to happen during interview.  The speaker also shared her industry experience and its associated lifestyle. The participants acquired basic technical know-how, and other important industrial practices that are required during recruitment process. 

Refresher Training Session – 2 

The Department of Textile Technology, KCT, conducted a company specific training session for M/s Colorjet Company for final year students via MS Teams on 29 October 2021. The session was facilitated by Mr.B.Mohanraj, Lead-Bleaching Division, M/s Jay Jay Mills, Perundurai. He threw industrial know-hows and various practical points on interview skills, readiness, attitude built-up in interview process during the session. The session exclusively had elaborated technical discussions on core concepts and basics of chemical processing units including pre-treatment, dyeing, printing, market and company based possible discussions that are bound to happen during the interview process. He also shared his industry experience and the life at industry. The session helped the students to understand the core knowledge and industrial skills to face the M/s Colorjet placement drive. They also acquired basic technical know-how, and other important industrial practices that are being followed in the present scenario.

Introduction to Industry 4.0 

Kumaraguru Alumni Relations in association with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, KCT, conducted an online session on “Introduction to Industry 4.0” on 29 October 2021. This session was handled by Mr.Vignesh Krishnamurthy, B.E. Mechanical Batch 2004, Operational Excellence Manager, Eaton, United States. He explained on the concept of digital minds, where we are standing on this revolution process, how to make a product with more impact and also shared his experience in this field.

Club Events 

The Future of Mobile App Industry 

The IEEE Student Branch Council, KCT, in association with Huawei conducted an event titled The Future of Mobile App Industry on 29 October 2021. The speaker Mr.Abishek, System Architect, Huawei Technological India Pvt Ltd, started his speech with the information about Huawei which includes the Huawei industry’s highlights, total number of employees working in the industry and also the geographical location of the company. The infrastructure of Huawei was also explained with the courses available. The main focus of mobile app industries in future were explained in detail. Since the world has become digital, the nuances of how to improve it in future were also shared during the session. He also gave a detail information about App gallery in Huawei. Following that, Dr.K.V.Shriram, Principal Consultant, Huawei Technological India Pvt Ltd, shared the information of Huawei’s Developer Communities. The journey of the company which includes 6 steps were also explained in detail. The speaker also shared how to activate Huawei account along with its uses and benefits. HMS Foundation Courses were discussed by the speaker at last which motivated the participants to take up the course. Overall, the outcome of this session was that the participants were equipped with a detailed information about Huawei and the main focus of mobile app industry at the present situation.

CATTUSIEAE – Eco-Contest   

Nature Club of KCT conducted October month’s eco-contest, “CATTUSIEAE,” which is an online quiz competition on 30 October 2021. Instagram was used as the online platform. Stories were posted on the club’s Instagram page on a regular basis. The participants were asked to respond to the questions posted regarding cat family. Over 30 participants participated enthusiastically in this event.

Sithiram Pesum 

On the account of Red Ribbon Week (Oct 23-31), the Red Ribbon Club of KCT conducted an event titled Sithiram Pesum from 28 to 31 October 2021. The event focused mainly on spreading awareness about the ill effects of drug consumption. This event was conducted virtually where the participants created posters and submitted it through the Microsoft Forms. The winners were selected on the basis of creativity and the impact created by the posters. It was an engaging event where the participants explored their creativity through their posters.  They were also able to equip themselves with the knowledge on the harmful effects of drugs during the poster making process.

Webinar on How to Write a Research Paper  

The IEEE Student Branch Council, KCT, organized a webinar on How to Write a Research Paper on 1 November 2021 via MS Teams. The Chief Guest Dr.Bharat Bhushan gave insights about his research paper works in the field of security and networks. Then, he started with how to write a research paper starting from title, abstract, keywords, main body, result and conclusion, and references. He explained the process in detail with suitable examples. This served to be very helpful to the participants to start writing a value-added research paper in future. Also, the speaker shared his tips to enhance the quality of research paper by first writing a survey paper and then concentrating on sequential flow of writing a research paper. He also suggested websites like Google scholar and IEEE Explore to get free and useful research papers for reference. He also shared his knowledge on how to approach a journal requirement and what do reviewers expect from the research paper to publish it. Finally, he ended this webinar session by motivating the students to write a value-added research paper on any field of their choice.
