Department Events
Talent Synergy
The Department of Languages and Communication, School of Foundational Sciences, KCT, organised an online event titled Talent Synergy 2021 on 27 June 2021. This event was exclusively conducted for the I year B.E./B.Tech students of KCT. The theme of the event was youth and technology. The event consisted of various categories like Article Writing, Drama, Poetry and Portrait. There were around 80 participants for the event. KCT Leadership Council members Ms.Lakshmi P L, Mr.Armaan Sait, Mr.Aathish Vicram J S, Mr.Julash T, Mr.Cibi Karthik B, Ms.Caroline Linda J, Ms.Minupriya T, Ms.Sukirtha S and Ms.Shobana M served to be the jury members for the event. The theme was well portrayed by the participants in all the genres. The winners of the events were announced by the respective jury members. Ms.Navina G A of I year Information Science and Engineering was awarded to be the winner in Poetry and Article Writing, Ms.Monisha L of I year Electronics and Communication Engineering was awarded to be the winner in Article Writing, Ms.Sankamethra S of I year Information Science and Engineering secured the award in Portrait category, and Mr.Prakash R, Mr.Midun S and Mr.Kishore Kumar S of I year Electrical and Electronics Engineering were declared as the winners in Drama category.

Webinar on Innovations Using Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, KCT, in association with IMAGE, Coimbatore, organized a webinar on Innovations Using Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality on 28 June 2021 from 04:00 p.m. to 06:00 p.m. Mr. S. Thiyagarajan, Operations Head, Image – Institute of Multimedia Arts & Graphic Effects, Coimbatore, presented the session. There were around 42 participants from KCT and various other colleges. The participants were given an opportunity to understand about VR and AR, available career opportunities, tools to develop VR/AR apps and industries using VR/AR. The participants were empowered with basic understanding of VR/AR through this webinar session.
Webinar on Opportunities After Engineering through GATE / ESE/ PSU
A webinar on Opportunities After Engineering through GATE / ESE/ PSU was conducted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, KCT, on 25 June 2021. Mr.Baseet Alam, ACE Engineering Academy, Hyderabad, served to be the guest speaker and he deliberated on various topics during the webinar session. The topics ranged from the strategies to crack ESE, GATE, PSUs in first attempt; important career opportunities for mechanical engineering students; university exam versus competitive exam; to PMRF scheme and NITIE eligibility criteria. This session provided an opportunity for the mechanical engineering students of KCT to gain knowledge about GATE exam and PMRF related schemes. There were 50+ participants for the event.
Connecting Women Leaders – Joining the Dots
An online event titled Connecting Women Leaders – Joining the Dots was conducted by IEEE KCT WIE Student Branch in association with IEEE Madras Section Women in Engineering Affinity Group on 25 June 2021 via Webex. Dr.Ramalatha Marimuthu, Secretary, IEEE Computer Society; Ms.Samantha Snabes, Co-Founder and Catalyst, Former Chair, IEEE Entrepreneurship Stars Judge; Ms.Shanthi Ravindran, Principal Architect, Next-Gen Experience Public Safety Solutions, APAC Motorola Safety Solutions, Singapore Pte. Ltd.; and Ms.Abbinaya Swathi, Journalist, Assistant Editor, Electronics For You Group, served to be the panellists for the discussion. The session encouraged the participants to achieve success in their professional career.
Webinar on Career Opportunities in RED HAT Technologies & Global Certification

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, KCT, in association with Vectra Technosoft Pvt Ltd., conducted a webinar on Career Opportunities in RED HAT Technologies & Global Certification on 23 June 2021. Mr.Ranjit Sengupta, Director & Chief Operating Officer, and Mr.Kathirvel, Red Hat Certified Instructor, Vectra Technosoft Pvt Ltd., Chennai, explained about open-source Red hat technologies, Global Certification and career opportunities with Linus Automation.
Webinar on Material Inspection

Session one of the webinar series on Material Inspection was conducted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering on 21 June 2021 via MS Teams. Mr.Dhamodharan R, NTC, Coimbatore, addressed the participants on material quality inspection, which is an activity of checking, measuring, or testing one or more products. It is also checking the service characteristics and comparing the results with specific requirements to confirm compliance. This task can be executed only by skilled personnel and not by production workers. The session gave wonderful insights about the process of material inspection to the participants.
Evolve with Engineering
The Department of Aeronautical Engineering conducted an online event titled Evolve with Engineering from 26 to 29 June 2021. The event consisted of three rounds. First round was a Quiz related to engineering, innovations, and technologies. Second round was to know the people and familiarization of the technical terms via games like connections, word search and guess what/who. Third round was a task to make “Rube Goldberg machine”. The participants were asked to make a Rube Goldberg machine and submit a video in the given time. The main objective of the event was to provide a platform to showcase the students’ talents and their awareness in understand the engineering behind all technologies.
Webinar on Industrial Automation & IIOT

The Department of Mechatronics Engineering, KCT, conducted a webinar on Industrial Automation & IIOT on 19 June 2021 via MS Teams. Mr.Sandeep Sugumaran, Automation Engineer, Aggressor Automation, Canada, explained the basics of PLC, development and integration of drivers, development of HMI, role of data in IIOT, industrial communication protocols for data transfer, challenges in industry, emerging technologies in industrial automation and skills in demand during the session. The participants felt the session to be very useful and informative.
Webinar on Overview of Switchgears
A webinar on Overview of Switchgears was conducted by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, KCT, in association with The Institution of Engineers (India), Coimbatore Local Chapter, on 23 June 2021 through MS Teams. Mr.Subramanian V, Manager – Switchgear Training Center, Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Coonor, provided insights about the low voltage switchgear and panel design aspects to the participants. The session also covered topics like design, evaluation and testing.
The Poet Perspective of Engineer’s Talent
The Poet Perspective of Engineer’s Talent was conducted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, KCT, from 16 to 22 June 2021 via MS Forms. This was a talent search event in search of technical poets. MS Forms was circulated, and the participants were asked to upload their poems about mechanical sciences and technologies for a maximum of two pages. The best poem was awarded with cash voucher.

A webinar on Understanding the Importance of Selling in Startups was conducted by the Department of Information Technology, KCT, on 24 June 2021. Mr.Subburaj Govindarajan, Principal Consultant, Repute Digital Business Agency, Coimbatore, debriefed about the importance of branding in business. He emphasised the importance of brand positioning, digital marketing, and web & mobile application development during the session. He also demonstrated on business analysis, business process modelling and interaction designs.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, KCT, jointly with IEEE Computer Society organised a webinar on How to Prepare Yourself for the Industry on 26 June 2021 via MS Teams. Mr.Maithreyan Kesavan, Facilitator – Explore ML Google AI, Tensorflow User Group, Coimbatore, explained the strategies that are to be followed to prepare oneself for the industrial needs.

A webinar on Overview of Smart Materials and Shape Memory Alloy Introduction was conducted by the Department of Aeronautical Engineering, KCT, on 26 June 2021 via MS Teams. Dr.Santhanam R, Scientist – F, Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), DRDO, explained the concepts to the participants and it helped them to understand the current trends in the usage of smart materials in aircrafts.

A webinar on Leveraging Collaboration in Higher Education with West Texas A&M, USA, was conducted by the Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, KCT, on 23 June 2021. Dr.Emily Hunt, Dean, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, and Dr.Anitha Subburaj, Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering, West Texas A&M, USA, explained about the various opportunities available to collaborate with their institution.
Workshop on Design Thinking, Critical Thinking and Innovation Design
A workshop on Design Thinking, Critical Thinking and Innovation Design was organised by the Department of Fashion Technology, KCT, on 26 June 2021. Ms.Sreelekshmi S S, Product Designer, M. Des (NIFT) Kerala, explained on design thinking context and practice, creating the Framework – Design Synthesis Approaches, critical thinking in design process, and innovation in product design.

A webinar series on Research Avenues in Microwave Technologies was conducted by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, KCT, from 28 to 30 June 2021. Dr.Raghavan S, Professor (HAG) / ECE, NIT Trichy; Prof.Mahadevan, Scientist (R), ISRO, Professor (R), PES University, Bangalore; and Dr.Mary Neebha, Assistant Professor, ECE, Karunya University, Coimbatore, deliberated about microwave integrated circuits, satellite communication, and microwave antennas and their applications during the webinar sessions.
Club Events
Health Refinement
Agam Forum of Kumaraguru Institutions conducted an online event titled Health Refinement on 21 and 22 June 2021 in commemoration of International Day of Yoga via Google Meet. The day one focused on mental health, confidence and balance in life. It included warmup, surya namaskar, asanas and meditation sessions. Participants practiced such activities and felt rejuvenated. They felt their mind relaxed, which made them ready to work throughout the day. Meditation really helped in realizing one’s inner peace and visualizing the power within. There were more than 40 participants on day one. The second day activities focused on immunity and physical fitness, which included warmup, surya namaskar, breathing exercises, and asanas. These were keenly observed and practiced by the participants. These exercises help us to maintain a healthy body and to boost our immune system. This practice would help the participants to fight against the pandemic situation with strong mind.
Build Immunity! Beat Stress!
As a part of Health Refinement, the Agam Forum of Kumaraguru Institutions conducted an online workshop titled Build Immunity! Beat Stress! from 23 to 25 June 2021. The first day of workshop centred on immunity concepts like types of immunity, immune system, the way it works and so on. The benefits of yoga postures and asanas were well explained by comparing with other daily activities. The awareness on Covid was also given by the resource person. The participants had many doubts on vaccination which were also clarified. There were 50+ participants for the event. Day two covered the topics such as importance of water, nutrients, healthy diet supplements, and immunity boosting foods. India stands first in the world as diabetic capital. Therefore, diabetes is most profoundly seen in many people. Balanced diet and healthy lifestyle for diabetic people were shared. Habits to maintain the body clean and fresh were also discussed. Day three focused on the importance of mental health, which is drastically affected among most of the people inclusive of students in this difficult time. The final session dealt with the strategies of stress management. This helped the participants to overcome their stressors and lead a peaceful life.
