Webinar on Current Trends in IT Industry
The Department of Computer Applications (MCA), KCT, conducted a webinar titled “Current Trends in IT Industry” on 07 November 2020 via MS Teams. Mr.Sathyaseelan Muthunaicker (2004-2007 Batch MCA), Associate Director, IQVIA, Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA, deliberated on the current Industry perspective, Workflow in industry, Working Teams, Skill sets required, expectations and technologies to be concentrated for the future needs during the session. Preparation required for placements and Industry needs were also discussed and real time scenarios were elaborated by the speaker. There were around 50+ participants for the webinar and they felt that the session was very informative and useful.
Invited Talk on Bang of the Century: Data Science and Data Revolution
KCT Business School conducted a talk on the topic “Bang of the Century: Data Science and Data Revolution” on 10 November 2020. Mr. S N Vivek Raj, Assistant Professor – Analytics, KCTBS, explained the concepts to the participants. As an outcome of the session, the participants were able to acquire knowledge about data science and its trends, realize the need and importance of Data science and gain insights on how data science integrates with other management domains. Data science is manipulating data, looking for patterns and coming up with solutions to drive revenue, lower expenses and thereby increase overall business. The levels of analytics and the components that are present in the data science were explained during the session. It also gave insights about the key data mining techniques such as prediction, classification, association and clustering with the real-world applications. The entire webinar was lively and was packed with videos, live interactions, fun activities and it kept the participants involved throughout the session.
Webinar on LinkedIn Career Council
The Department of Aeronautical Engineering, KCT, conducted a webinar on “LinkedIn Career Council” on 09 November 2020 via Google Meet. In the current trend of rapidly growing technology, it is important that we are aware of the opportunities around us. Hence, the webinar was organised with a view to enrich career profile of the students. Ms.Denila Grene Selwyn gave an insight into LinkedIn profile etiquette and on how to utilise this platform to enhance the career opportunities of the participants. She explained everything about using this platform and exploring the opportunities from around the world. She also provided many valuable information on using LinkedIn to upgrade oneself and provided tips to use LinkedIn efficiently.
Tinkercad Circuits
A one-day training program titled “Tinkercad Circuits” was jointly conducted by the Departments of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Mechatronics Engineering (MCE) and Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering (EIE), KCT, on 17 November 2020. The session aimed to train the students on building circuits with Tinkercad, a 3D circuit design tool with a one-hour live session. This training was conducted as a prerequisite training to prepare the students for the Tinkercad competition which is to be conducted shortly. The session involved basic explanation and practical live examples on building Tinkercad circuits. Participants from various departments gained knowledge on how to build Arduino circuits with Tinkercad during the session and they found the event to be very useful and informative.
Alumni Talk on Career Enhancement
The Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, KCT, organised an Alumni Talk on “Career Enhancement” on 16 November 2020. Ms.Soundharya Bommi R, KCT Alumnus (2019 Batch), shared her views and insights about pursuing higher education abroad. She pictured a roadmap about the life of students after their graduation and shared her experience of pursuing her Master’s in Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada. She also explained about the process of choosing the university abroad along with the required knowledge and qualifications associated with it. Her description about the programmes offered in universities abroad and the credit system followed gave a deep insight about pursuing higher studies to the participants. The scholarship schemes explained by her were well received by the participants and they found the session to be very interesting.
Alumni Talk on Shortlisting and Filtering

KCT Business School organised an Alumni Talk on “Shortlisting and Filtering” on 16 November 2020 via MS Teams. Mr.Hari Prakash, IT Recruiter, Careernet Technologies, deliberated the session on various strategies used to shortlist and filter the candidates during the interview process. He also shared his experience of being an IT Recruiter with more than 15+ clients including G.E, Adobe, Legato Health Technologies, and detailed about the process of recruitment in a vivid manner. The participants felt the session to be very useful and informative.
Finance Trivia
An online quiz titled “Finance Trivia” was conducted on 09 November 2020 by KCT Business School via Google Meet. It served to be an interactive and fun learning mode to provoke enthusiasm among the participants. The event was conducted in two sessions namely Q&A Session and Business Connections. It helped the participants to update themselves in current affairs and banking terminologies, which in turn would help them for seeking better job opportunities. The proportion of speed and accuracy that is required to handle competitive events were also inculcated during the session. There were around 50+ participants for the event.
Alumni Talk on Post-Covid Skills Required in the Market
Alumni Talk on “Post-Covid Skills Required in the Market” was conducted by KCT Business School on 16 November 2020. Ms.Vaishali G (2018-2020 Batch), Sales Executive, Perfetti Van Melle, detailed about the skills that are required in the post-covid market. Information about the effect of the pandemic situation in various industries was debriefed during the session and the speaker also gave her views about the different segments of industries and the classification of outlets. The session also dealt with the managing strategy and the innovative ideas required for the industry, and the required managing tools and technologies. The session was found to be very interactive by the participants.
Webinar on The Startup Enterprise and Innovation

A webinar on “The Startup Enterprise and Innovation” was organized by KCT Business School on 18 November 2020 via MS Teams. Mr.Hetal Sonpal, Startup Evangelist, Coimbatore, explained the nuances of planning for new start-ups to the participants. The speaker also shared his experience of investing in start-ups and how these enterprises have grown manifold over the years. He insisted on the need to act on setting up an enterprise rather than contemplating and also provided adequate information about the skills and attitude that are essential to start up a new business. The session also dealt with writing blogs in LinkedIn. There were around 110 participants for the event.
Design Thinking Quiz
“Design Thinking Quiz” was conducted by KCT Business School on 18 November 2020. The event aimed to highlight the significance of the entrepreneurship course and focused on how to make a Business Model. The participants gained knowledge about business model designing and elevator pitch ideas from this event.

Career Ladder
The Aeromodelling Club of KCT conducted an online event titled “Career Ladder” on 07 November 2020 via MS Teams. Mrs.Archana Subramani, Manufacturing Engineer for Boeing Global Services, The Boeing India Private Limited, Chennai, shared her experience in Aerospace Manufacturing, Process Planning, Design of Interiors and Electrical in Aircraft. The speaker also shared her journey of life and motivated the participants to have a successful professional and personal life. She also advised them to convert challenges into opportunities and work hard to achieve success.
