STTP on “Impact of Polyphenols in Enzyme Inhibition and Formulation of Healthcare Apparels”

An AICTE sponsored online one-week Short Term Training Programme (STTP) titled “Impact of Polyphenols in Enzyme Inhibition and Formulation of Healthcare Apparels” was conducted by the Department of Biotechnology jointly with the Departments of Fashion Technology and Textile Technology, KCT, from 3 to 8 August 2020.  The programme started with Dr.W.Selvamurthy, Chancellor, Amity University, Chhattisgarh, and Former Chief Controller, Research and Development, Life Sciences & International Cooperation, DRDO, giving his inaugural address.  He insisted on the need of interdisciplinary research in the area of traditional medicine with special reference to polyphenols and impact of valued added surgical materials.  Dr.Yusuf Akhther, Assistant Professor, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow, UP, elaborated the role of structural bioinformatics in the designing of various drugs to treat against different ailments. 

Other eminent personalities for the programme include Dr.Shashank K. Singh, Principal Scientist & Associate Professor (AcSIR), Division of Cancer Pharmacology, CSIR, Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu; Mr.Karthikeyan, Product Manager, MBR, QUA, Chennai; Dr.C.T.Sulaiman, Sr. Scientist & Head, Phytochemistry Division, Centre for Medicinal Plants Research AVS, Kottakkal; Dr. Arun Shastry, Managing Director and Chief Scientific Officer, Hanugen Therapeutics Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru; Dr. N. Thirugnanam, Chief Plastic Surgeon, Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, Coimbatore; and other Professors from KCT and PSG College of Technology.  The SSTP covered various areas in the field like smart healthcare apparels, Ayurvedic medicine, diabetic ulcers, and wound care management. There were around 40+ participants from across the country.

Webinar on The Converse New Normal in Career Readiness. 

Career Guidance Centre of KCT Business School conducted a webinar on “The Converse New Normal in Career Readiness” on 25 July 2020.  The event was conducted for the MBA students of the Batch 2019-2021.  Mr. Ravi Raj, Associate Vice President, Indegene Pvt. Ltd.; Mr. Senthil Kumar, Regional Head TN, ICICI Bank, Coimbatore; and Mrs Subha Lazaar, HR Manager, Vidyut Motors Pvt. Ltd., served as the keynote speakers for the event.  All the speakers shared their views on the topic and the recent changes occurred after the pandemic in their respective firms.  The Questions & Answers session was moderated by Mr. Sanjiv Srinivasan, Assistant Professor, KCTBS.  It was informed to the participants that behaviour resilience to work, adaptation to work, the basic skill set of technology, and self-learning are expected out of a candidate to get selected in interviews and to have a successful professional life.  The queries posted by the students were discussed by Mr.V.Saravana Prasad, LCR, KCTBS, and the suggestions for effective resume writing were given by Mrs. Subha Lazaar.

Webinar on “Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality – Introduction & its Real World Use Cases”

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, KCT, organized a webinar on “Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality – Introduction & its Real World Use Cases” on 31 July 2020 via Zoom platform.  Mr.Arun Vishnu, Innovation Architect, AstraZeneca, Greater Philadelphia, explained about the functionalities of the virtual reality and augmented reality.  There were around 56 participants for the event.  The session was very useful in knowing the different strategies used in virtual and augmented reality and to know how it replaces the user’s real-world environment.

Webinar on “Artificial Intelligence Techniques for Cognitive Radio” 

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, KCT, conducted a webinar on “Artificial Intelligence Techniques for Cognitive Radio” on 1 August 2020.  Dr.K.C.Sriharipriya, School of Electronics Engineering (SENSE), Vellore Institute of Technology, explained the concepts in detail during the session.  The event focused on learning techniques in cognitive radio and emphasised the strategies for Research on Cognitive Radio based 5G Networks.  This technology increases the performance and interconnects different communication technologies.  These features are essential to manage the complexity induced by a variety of possible usage scenarios and to minimize the spectrum usage.  There were around 70 participants for the event, and they gained knowledge about the strategies that have incorporated Artificial Intelligence in Cognitive Radio.

Quizcine 

An online quiz titled “Quizcine” was conducted by the Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of KCT on 7 August 2020.  It was a self-assessment quiz to analyse the knowledge about Covid-19 and to battle the mental illnesses like stress and depression.  The main objective of the event was to create awareness about the present pandemic situation and to motivate the participants to maintain a good physical and mental health.  There were around 80+ participants for the event.  Topics like social distancing, stress, depression, and the safety measures that are to be followed during the Covid-19 pandemic were covered in the quiz.  Ms.Sowmiya, II year, ECE, KCT, was awarded to be the winner.

Tech Talk 1 – How to Make a Killer Presentation?

 “Tech Talk 1 – How to Make a Killer Presentation?” is an event organized by the Robotics and Automation Club of KCT on 2 August 2020 via Google Meet.  Ms.Prekshaa Arunachalam, IV-year, CSE, KCT, exhibited the art of making effective presentations to the participants.  She is a District and State Winner of Tamil Nadu Student Innovators 2020 and runner of Startup Mania 4.0.  There were around 35+ participants for the event.  The speaker explained the various strategies used to make powerful presentations.  She also explicated that the primary requirements of a good presentation are the pitch and the pitch deck.  Using a good back ground, font, design and pictures would also influence the effectiveness of communication through the presentation.

Tech Talk 2 – How to Become a Successful Freelancer? 

The Robotics and Automation Club of KCT conducted an online event titled “Tech Talk 2 – How to Become a Successful Freelancer?” on 5 August 2020.  Mr.Vyshak P P, Founder, Motify.in, explained the innumerable opportunities available for freelancers.  He shared his experience as a freelancer and provided tips to carry out successful freelancing.  He also added that the facets like having clear thoughts, defining the field of expertise, successful negotiation with the clients, credibility and a high-quality portfolio would decide upon the success.  There were around 25+ participants who gained knowledge from the session.
