Webinar on Matlab interfacing with Artificial Intelligence
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of KCT in collaboration with Pantech E-Learning organised a webinar on “Matlab interfacing with Artificial Intelligence” on 13 July 2020. The webinar was conducted in YouTube and there were around 350 participants who actively participated in the event. Mr.A.Srinivasalu, Project Engineer, Pantech e-Learning, Andra Pradesh, enunciated about the Artificial Intelligence and its working principle & its significant role in the field of Electrical Engineering with its latest advancements. The applications of AI in E-Vehicle Technology were also deliberated during the session. Finally, the webinar came to a conclusion with a demonstration on AI by interfacing it with Matlab. All the participants of the webinar actively involved themselves in this demonstration and all their doubts relating to controlling parameters were clarified by the expert.

Webinar on “How to Prepare for TNPSC group I & II Examinations?”
A webinar on “How to Prepare for TNPSC group I & II Examinations? – An Interactive Session” was conducted by the Department of Biotechnology, KCT, on 18 July 2020. Ms. Uma Nandhini, Assistant Director (Trainee), Rural Development, Collectorate, Karur, shared her experience in taking up TNPSC exams. She is an alumnus of KCT (2012-2016 Batch), and she elaborated on her journey from a student to the Assistant Director in Rural Development Department. The participants of the webinar were from various academic and industrial institutions. The importance of focusing on Tamil language, current affairs and critical thinking were explained during the session. It was also insisted to the participants to have a habit of reading both English and Tamil newspapers to make themselves aware about the current happenings in the society.

Short Term Course on “Insights into Electrical Energy Management”
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of KCT conducted a 5-Day Short Term Course on “Insights into Electrical Energy Management” from 7 to 11 July 2020. Dr.R.Gnanadass, Professor, Pondicherry Engineering College; Dr.Vimalathithan Rathinasabapathy, Director, Krishtec; Dr.R.Sivakumar, Cluster Leader, COINDIA; Dr.K.N.Dinesh Babu, Application and Protection Engineer, Megger India Pvt. Ltd.; and Mr.S.Selvakumar, Head – Design and Engineering, Power Projects, shared their insights on various topics related to the field. The key takeaways of the course were valuable information about Smart Grid Management and Data Analysis, LORA Technology in Smart City Application, Energy Management and Energy Audit in industries, Smart Grid Protection System and the role of energy storage in Renewable Energy Integration. There were around 200 active participants from academia and industry who successfully completed the course.

Webinar – Key focus areas to become a Real Engineer & Make Yourself Industry Ready
The Department of Mechatronics Engineering of KCT conducted a webinar titled “Key focus areas to become a Real Engineer & Make Yourself Industry Ready” on 20 July 2020. Mr.M.Ponnusamy, Consultant – Electronic System Design, HCL Technologies, deliberated the participants about how to focus more on core areas. He also came up with the significance of using the embedded board while carrying out small projects, which would in turn make the students industry ready.

“Bio-Emerge” – A Webinar on Plasma Therapy
Voluntary Blood Donors Club of KCT jointly with Red Ribbon Club and National Service Scheme organised a webinar titled “Bio-Emerge” on 13 July 2020. The session equipped around 80+ participants with the knowledge of plasma therapy and other medications available for Covid-19. Mr.Bragadeeswaran, a III-year Medical Student from Government Medical College, Coimbatore, pronounced the outcomes of the plasma therapy, medications in use for Covid-19 and the developmental status of numerous vaccines like Covaxin. This served as a glimmer of hope for the participants to fight against Covid-19.

Space Talks – 1: Days to Sols
Space Talks – 1: “Days to Sols” was conducted by the SEDS Club of KCT on 17 July 2020 via Google Meet. Space Talks is a Lecture Series where eminent Scientists and Professors in the field of Space Science meet the students and share their perspectives about various advancements in the field. “Days to Sols” essentially described NASA’s historic Mars-2020 mission. An overview about the mission, right from the Perseverance rover’s lift off in Florida to landing in Jezero (a terrain in Mars), was shared with the participants. There were around 53 participants for the event. Mr.Abinash Nataraj shared the details of the entire Mars-2020 mission with the participants with utmost care, and the event concluded with a Question and Answer session.

Online Treasure Hunt
The Rotaract Club of KCT organised an online Treasure Hunt on 16 July 2020 in their Instagram page. As an initiative to make the quarantined life interesting with fun-filled informative activities, the club came up with this event where the participants are supposed to find out a series of questions that are hidden in the folders in the given Google Drive and hunt for the possible answers. Each question challenges the participants to find out the hidden word. Navigation through these questions by solving each of them would lead the participants to a final destination where there was a treasure. The event ensured that the participants are enthralled throughout. There were around 275+ participants for the event. The overwhelming feedback showcased the effectiveness of the event. The participant who was able to find out all the answers first was announced to be the winner.

Prathipalippu
If reading is a significant habit to cultivate, more significant is the ability and habit of reflecting on what we read. “Prathipalippu,” an online discussion forum, organized by the Books and Beyond Club of KCT on 12 July 2020 served as the perfect platform for it. All the participants were provided with the reading material on the previous day and they were asked to share their insights on the same during the online session. There was a stupendous discussion about the reading among an intimate circle of 15 members with Sruthi Dharman, an alumnus of KCT (2015-19 Batch) and Fellow at Teach for India, moderating the session. The theme of the material was exploring and analysing the education system in the present scenario. All the participants had their questions answered and were left with a lot more questions to ponder.

Kandupidi
Kandupidi is an online event conducted by the Road Safety Patrol of KCT in their Instagram page from 15 to 17 July 2020. The event aimed to create awareness and curtail the careless and carefree attitude of people, which serves as a root cause for most of the road accidents. With the statement, “Finding error is the route to evolve,” as the motto of the event, it required the participants to identify the mistakes that are purposefully created in the given pictures and video clippings related to road safety and traffic signs. The participants were also asked to state the reason behind the accidents from the given video. This served as a memorable occasion to remember the road safety rules for around 50+ participants.

Continue with Your Tale
Agam Forum of KCT conducted an online event titled “Continue with Your Tale” from 12 to 18 July 2020 focusing on the creative ability and the mental wellbeing of the participants. There were around 50 participants for the event, and they were given topics in the Instagram page of the club. Stories were created about the topics, which seemed to be a combination of real-life experiences and the imaginative capability. Each story was submitted in writing or in audio-visual form covering approximately 10 minutes each. All the tales were uploaded in the Instagram page of the club on a daily basis for a week. Various topics like love, boldness, courage, motivation, depression, fear, etc., served as the basis for the participants’ stories. The outcomes of the event were the tales describing the importance to show love and gratitude towards everyone, the importance of being bold and courageous and the tales exhibiting the significance of facing dangerous situations confidently.

Webinar on “Industrial Safety”
Youth Red Cross (YRC) Club of KCT organized a webinar on “Industrial Safety” on 13 July 2020. The session comprehensively covered the significance of following industrial safety norms and the necessary safety precautions that are to be followed in workplace. The main objective of the program was to create awareness about the various safety measures and to make everyone understand their individual responsibility to prevent accidents in future. Mr.G.Prathap, Faculty – Health and Industrial Safety Programme, NIFS School of Safety, highlighted the important safety measures that should be followed in industries, educational institutions, other workplaces and at home. Around 60+ members participated in the event.

Secrets from the Masters
LEED Club of KCT organized a five-day webinar series titled “Secrets from the Masters for Entrepreneurs” from 20 to 24 July 2020. It aimed to provide basic knowledge required for start-ups and entrepreneurs. Day one started with Mr.Vijay, Tax Lawyer and Founder – B Alpha Solutions, providing a lecture titled “Know about MSME.” He shared details about the various schemes and loans available for start-ups and entrepreneurs. The session also dealt with the available tax benefits for the companies. This was then followed by sessions by Mr.Santosh Sharma, Founder – Book My Jet and Co-Founder & CEO – Foresee Aviation; Mr.Himanshu Takkar, Co-Founder – Agama School of Design Thinking; Mr.S.Gowrishankar, Registered Trademark Agent & Founder – Embark Corpserv; Mr.Adhavan, Information and Technology (IPR), Patent Agent, on the forthcoming days. All these sessions deliberated on the importance of handling failure and tough situations in business, the necessity to ideate and be creative, the process of filing trademarks, intellectual property rights, copyright policies, and the process of patenting products. More than 100 participants got benefitted from the event.

Journey of RF Engineers – Ups and Downs
“Journey of RF Engineers – Ups and Downs” was an online event conducted by the HAM Club of KCT on 20 July 2020 in which the speakers shared their experiences in the field. Mr.A.Chandramouli, Research Scientist, EMC Division, SAMEER-Centre for Electromagnetics, Chennai, and Mr.K.Vinoth Kumar, Senior Engineer – System Testing, Osram Continental India Pvt. Ltd., delivered their views about the necessary steps that are to be taken to become an RF Engineer. The various opportunities available for the aspirants in RF Domain were explained by the speakers and the necessary qualifications and skills needed to apply for SAMEER – Centre for Electromagnetics was also discussed. The session equipped the participants with the knowledge about the various opportunities available in the field of Radio Frequency.

Thought Library
A writing workshop titled “Thought Library” was organized by the Books and Beyond Club of KCT in association with the Book Readers Club on 18 July 2020. “Thought Library” is a series of webinars and sessions where the authors of various books share their writing experiences with the participants and would discuss the prerequisites for writing books. The first edition happened on 18 July 2020 with the deliberations of Antar Atreya, the author of the book titled Chronicles of Mortal Vishnu, as the speaker. He gave his insights about choosing writing as a career option and the session was very interactive with around 120 participants. On the second day of the event on 19 July 2020, Naufa Yahya, the author of the book titled The Unmarried Widow, Risen from her Ashes, gave an inspiring session by sharing her life experiences of becoming a writer. She was able to connect with more than 100 participants who stayed hushed throughout the session. Overall, the event catered the participants with the required knowledge for writing books and articles.

Inspire
An online event titled “Inspire” was conducted by the National Service Scheme (NSS) of KCT on 21 July 2020. The event aimed to identify the inspirational personalities of the students. All the participants were asked to upload a picture of the person whom they inspire in the Instagram page of the club. They were also asked to share their thoughts about the inspiring personality by describing their talents and uniqueness. Overall, there were around 80+ participants for the event. The pictures of scientists, social activists, authors, sportsmen, actors, teachers and parents were posted by the participants. A few participants posted their own picture to reflect the fact that they are self-motivated. The event served as the best platform to bring the memories of all inspirational personalities together and to motivate all the participants to lead a successful and fruitful life. It reflected the words “Let’s be better together. Let’s keep inspiring each other.”

Yovana Samutayam
Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of KCT conducted an online event titled “Yovana Samutayam” on 22 July 2020 via Google Meet. The main objective of the event was to create awareness about involving the youth in the activities related to social service during Covid-19 pandemic and to avoid the addiction of using mobile phones. Dr.J.Shakulhameed, Occupational Therapist (Neuro Psychiatry), Founder and CEO of Vidhi Sei Foundation, motivated the participants to involve themselves in social service. It was also insisted to the participants to avoid mobile phone addiction and to carry out some physical activities to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The speaker explained about the various activities carried out in their forum and showcased the ideas of social responsibility of an individual and invited the participants to involve themselves in social service in the new normal. There were around 100+ participants for the event.

Cliffhanger
An online event titled “Cliffhanger” was conducted by the Scrabble Club of KCT on 19 July 2020. The event aimed to evoke the creative appetite of individuals along with their ability to think out of the box. There were around 50+ participants for the event. All of them were given a cliffhanger and the person who developed the given situation into an exciting storyline was announced as the winner. Innovative ideas were appreciated with a special mention in the club’s Instagram page.

Sudoku Hunt
Sudoku Hunt was organised by the Matrix Club of KCT on 22 July 2020. This event aimed at bringing out the Sudoku solving skills of the young minds of KCT. The participants were intimated to be ready for the hunt by 10 a.m. The level one Sudoku puzzle was posted in the club’s Instagram page at 10:10 a.m. and the level two puzzle at 10:30 a.m. Winners were finalized based on the time taken to solve the puzzle. The event attracted many Sudoku lovers. Mr.Pradeep, II-year ISE, grabbed the first place by solving level one puzzle in 6 minutes and level two puzzle in 11 minutes. Mr.Vetri, III-year CSE and Mr.Ranjith, II-year EEE, secured the second and the third place respectively.

Healthy Info Series – 1
“Healthy Info Series – 1” conducted by the Agam Forum of KCT on 24 July 2020 aimed to create awareness about being mindful among the participants. Mr.Sethupathi, III-year Mechanical Engineering, KCT, handled the session for around 25 participants. Various techniques to cultivate curiosity, open mindedness and to learn from one’s past experiences were demonstrated during the session. The importance of being aware of the present situation was also explained to the participants. The event helped the participants to lead a life with positive attitude with a complete knowledge about the individual’s strengths and weaknesses. The significance of the attributes like attention, presence, intention and openness was also enunciated. Finally, the session concluded by giving out the importance of breathing exercises and meditation.

Webinar on Wing Design
The Aeromodeling Club of KCT organised a webinar on Wing Design on 20 July 2020 via Google Meet. Mr.Raghupathi, Mentor of Aeromodellers KCT, explained the concepts behind designing the wing of an aircraft to the participants. The session started with explaining the basics of wing design and the difference in the designing of wing for various types of aircrafts. This equipped the participants with the knowledge of aeromodelling and provided a first-hand experience in designing wings. The first and the second year students of Aeronautical Engineering, KCT, participated in the event and all the participants were provided with an e-certificate.

Voice of the Past
“Voice of the Past” is an initiative by Studio KCT to reach out its far spread alumni to create a platform in order to share their experiences with the aspirants of photography. Episode one of this event titled “Life and Photography” was conducted on 24 July 2020 via Google Meet. KCT alumni, Mr.Rangaraj Ravichandran and Mr.S.Saravana Kumar of 2014-2018 Batch, shared their experiences in the club and about the art of making good photography. There were around 32 participants for the event who shared their views about photography and got clarified their doubts regarding the same. The basics of wild photography were also explained by the speakers with great detail.
