Role of Microcontrollers in enhancing the life of differently abled
In this fast-moving world, all are running with their maximum speed to succeed in their life. “In this world, there is room for everyone” said by Charlie Chaplin. As he said, differently abled people should also go in the same speed. But due to the obstacles given by the nature, they are continuously losing their hope. This is our duty as an engineer to help them to place their foot in the running track.
What is a Microcontroller?
A microcontroller is a computer present in a single integrated circuit which is dedicated to perform one task and execute one specific application. It contains memory, programmable input/output peripherals as well a processor. Microcontrollers are mostly designed for embedded applications and are heavily used in automatically controlled electronic devices such as cell phones, cameras, microwave ovens, washing machines, etc.
How it makes the life of Differently Abled easier:
Since microcontroller is a heart of any embedded system, it can program accordingly to do the daily tasks of differently abled. It can be programmed to capture an object through camera and give instructions, so that it make the life of people with Visual impairment easier. We can see an example to make our thoughts clear
Smart Wheel Chair is a device which is designed to have self-mobility with the help of the user command, resulting in reduction of the user’s human effort and force to drive the wheels for wheelchair. Furthermore, it also provides an opportunity for visually or physically impaired persons to move from one place to another. The wheelchair is also provided with obstacle detection system which minimizes the chance of collision while using it.
There are features like Automatic Braking, Patient’s body temperature Monitoring System, Room Automation System, Battery Power Indicator, Touchpad Based Control, Bluetooth Control, and IR remote based control. To do all this operation, we need several sensors and actuators. All these are synchronized and the incoming data are processed by the microcontroller.
