Robotics and automation club of Kumaraguru Institutions organized and conducted RACathon – a benchmark event of the club to honor Engineer’s day. The event is held to remark “Engineer’s day“ of 2021.

AIM OF THIS EVENT:

To showcase the importance of simulation, programming, and designing in the field of engineering and to solve real-life problems in a more innovative manner.

EVENT DATE AND TIME:

This challenging event is conducted through Microsoft Teams from 10:00 am – 06:00 pm on 19/09/2021, Sunday. The event was very interesting and the participants were really enthusiastic!!

Problem Statements Racathon-21’:

Electronics

Problem 1: In current days in agriculture, there are many reasons for the loss of income to the farmers. Loss in income is the main reason for many farmers.

Problem 2: Water pollution in the oceans is increasing day by day. It destroys the aquatic ecosystem. It is the major problem that needs to be worked out.

Programming :

Problem 1: Automated Garbage Cleaning robot.

Problem 2:Prediction system for the accident.

Mechanical design :

Problem 1: In a park, people throw the mask in the pathway and this can cause many health problems. Manual cleaning of masks can create health problems for the workers.

Problem 2: There are 2 units in a Metal parts Factory. In between 2 units, there is a rough pathway. This is the only pathway to travel between units.

HAPPENINGS OF THE EVENT:

The event was started with the welcome note by Ms. Nithiyashree V K (20BAD026). Nearly, 40+ students have participated in this event.

The rules and regulations were explained by the President of RAC – Mr. Rakesh D(18BMC032) and the event flow was explained by Mr. Swaminathan C ( 20BMC043 ).

The event was geared up with a simple yet interesting question ‘What was your favorite Technology or Innovation?’ and the participants were allegedly answering that!

The problem statements were explained by each domain leads and the competition started around 10:30 am.

The list of software that can be used for the competition is;

  • Tinker cad
  • Fusion 360
  • Solid works
  • AutoCAD

ROUND 1

In this round, the problem statements have been given to the participants according to their domain selection.

Participants are assigned to ideate the problem statement through presentation and simulate the solution in any software’s within 3:30Pm on 19/09/2021.

After the submission of presentations, the evaluation was done by the technical lead of RAC.

ROUND 2

After the evaluation of round 1 presentations, 6 members were qualified for round 2. In this round, participants have to present their simulation and poster in Infront of jury members.

The juries gave their comments and there was a huge knowledge sharing among the spectators and the juries.

Welcome note for jury members was given by Ms. Swetha S V –(19BEC052) and the rules & regulations for the final round were given by the Vice President of RAC Mr. Prakash Ganesan (18BEE206).

Then the event was concluded by Ms.Salai Bharathi Devi (19BEI004).

PRICE WORTH: 3K INR

WINNER:

1)Raguram K (20BMC034) –1.2K INR

RUNNER:

1) Vignesh C (19BMC011) –1K INR

2) Nishanth N (19BMC018) –800 INR

FUTURE SCOPE:

Technology favors an important role in this event. The deployment comes into the game only after we have a clear idea of the Problem Statement to discover a solution for it.

MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THE EVENT:

“Good coders work around the clock.” No, they don’t.

Busting the myth that developers spend the better part of their day coding, 52% of student developers said that they prefer to code for a maximum of 3 hours per day. To bring out innovative minds together and create innovative solutions for the sensational Problem Statements. Building new designs lead to the development of new inventions thereby taking technology to a new era.

“Engineering is an art to change the world with your innovations”
