From impossible to why not possible”, comes the role of quantum computing or quantum computers.

WHAT IS QUANTUM COMPUTING?

Quantum computing is a phenomena based on which quantum computers have been developed. Quantum computers are not like the normal classical computer, these computers would solve some problems in finite hours which would take the universe a lifetime to calculate. Unlike normal processor they have processors which process data using qubits or Quantum bits. Quantum bits are nothing but an electron or photon.

PRINCIPLE OF QUANTUM COMPUTING

It works based on two principles namely,

  • Quantum superposition
  • Quantum entanglement

These principles are derived by Austrian physicist Schrodinger, based on his cat experiment which may die or live inside a box.

QUANTUM SUPERPOSITION:

Superposition is nothing but the capability of quantum particle to be present at 2 distinct location at the same time. It may be “here” or “there”, ”up” or “down”. In quantum computing the electron may have “0” or “1” at the same time.

QUANTUM ENTANGLEMENT:

Entanglement is strong relation between quantum particles which influence each other even they are spatially apart. The theory proves that even the quantum particles are kept at two distinct corners of universe, they dependent on each other and influence each other. It defines that an electron in one end spin up gradually, electron in another end spin down and vice versa.

ADVANTAGES:

  • Quantum computer are incomparably faster than normal or supercomputers, they are capable of fast computation.
  • It can be used for discovery of new drugs by analyzing complex molecules and their structures.
  • It can be used in cryptography. Hacking of quantum computers are hardly possible.
  • It can be used in artificial intelligence, thus it can used for making precise decisions.
  • It can be used in machine learning, so it can build machine learning models out of quantum algorithms.

LIMITATIONS:

  • NEED FOR LOW TEMPERATURE:

Qbits for quantum computers are created by superconductivity. In order to work with these qbits it must be kept at absolute zero temperature which is very cold than vacuum of space.

  • EXPENSIVE:

Its highly expensive, so it can’t be used by common public.

  • RISK OF NETWORK SECURITY:

These computers are capable of decoding all the internet codes, thus it might end up with the risk of losing internet security.

CONCLUSION:

Quantum computing will witness the term, weirder world with the weirdest technologies” and it might be a best part of revolution in next decade. Being in development phase ,more researchers are working on quantum computing for the development of best quantum computers with zero error. Fast growing world with its computational methods, will produce a drastic change in fields like machine learning, artificial intelligence, etc. Unexplainably excited to look forward and witness this transition.
