ABLE (Achieve Beyond Limited Expectations) is a social club of kumaraguru institutions which was started by students. This club is led by students with three envisions – Empowerment, Health and well-being and Inclusivity.

The ABLE club will empower individuals to lead an autonomous life, to enhance the knowledge of students to provide technical solutions for social issues, to inculcate health & wellbeing through safety, service and support, to enable an accessible environment and promote equality through inclusivity. The club accomplishes its missions and functions with ‘not to recognize ourselves as helping hand; not to feel superior’ as the core specified by the Joint Correspondent, KCT. The club has vision stating that nothing is impossible when you have that ability.

  ABLE CLUB INAUGURATION

“Start of our mission to transform disability to this-ability to achieve beyond limited expectations”.  The ABLE club inauguration was held on 06 march 2019. The event was presided over by Shri. Shankar Vanavarayar and felicitation address by Dr. J. Senthil with wonderful chief guests Ms. Kalki Subramaniam Founder, Sahodari Foundation, Mr. Naveen Kumar Founder, Atchayam Trust and Mr. Jagadeesh Motivational Speaker. The vision and mission of the club was explained and the club logo was also launched in this inauguration.

        VIZHITHEZHU

       “Awareness is the greatest agent for change”. Vizhithezhu an awareness event was conducted to acquaint with the government schemes and government opportunities in career development, etc to first year students. We paved a unique opportunity to become aware of the scholarships awarded by the State and Central Government of India. Information on scholarship, how to avail them was explained by Mr. Vignesh S R, ABLE Club, Staff Facilitator. 

 

   VIRUTCHAM

“We should be concerned not only about the health of individuals, but also the health of the entire society”. Virutcham is a free health camp for the children between 0-20 years of age with different mental abilities. This camp was organized with an aim to provide them a road to physical and mental well-being. This camp involved doctors from various fields of medical stream including Orthopedic Surgeon, Neurologist, ENT surgeon, Pediatrician, Dentist, Physiotherapist, Clinical Psychologist, Psychiatrist and Ophthalmologist to diagnose disorders and gave necessary treatments for those children.

     SURVEY

“If we want to reach real peace in this world we should start educating children”. Having this motive we went on a survey to differently abled persons to provide financial support for their children’s education through scholarships. We members of ABLE club took the survey, noted the requirements of those children, cross verified the documents and submitted the report for them to avail the scholarship.

     PROJECT DIVYANGJAN

            The main aim of this PROJECT – DIVYANGJAN was to build separate accessible Restrooms for differently abled in our campus. It is one of the most needed things for those people who have difficulties using normal restrooms. We analysed the existing restrooms in our college and asked the management to change some of the restrooms for differently abled. As every year 5% seats are allotted to differently abled this project is a useful one for the upcoming students also.

ABLE’S OUTREACH

“Be an influence of positivity and spread it to change the world”. On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday we visited Douglas Memorial Children Home, Vattamalaipalayam, Coimbatore, to invest the principles of our Gandhi in young minds through talks and tasks. 

  BEHIND THE LENS

“See the light in each other, be the light for each other”. Behind the lens was an interesting event conducted during YUGAM. Photography is not only freezing the movement. It’s the tool to change society. Frame your society through the picture taken by you. This event was to ignite the photographic skills and also addressed the social issues that the pictures taken by them. Participants are asked to take pictures related to social issues or differently abled people and to express their thoughts about that picture on the day of event.

                      WORKSHOP- YUGAM 2020 SOCIO CONSTANT

  “There is no force more powerful than a woman determined to rise”. This workshop was organised to teach women a new skill using Silk thread and to guide them to become an Entrepreneur. With this skill they can earn money from home. We went to three villages Velaikinaru, Anjugam nagar, Udayampalayam, Coimbatore and taught the skill, some marketing strategies were also taught to sell the products.

 

THE DECIDER

“The highest form of knowledge is empathy”. An online event conducted during the lockdown period to test the thinking capabilities. Participants were provided with 10 situations they face during the pandemic. Best solutions were given rewards based on how they reacted to the situation and effectiveness of the solution provided by them. 

    FIND EVENT

“Quality is never an accident, it is always the result of intelligent effort”. Discovering what personal qualities we have are a good way to begin our personality development. This event “FIND”, reveals our personality by answering a set of questions provided by us.  For more info Click here

  KARPOM KARPIPOM

“ Knowledge shared is the knowledge squared”. The knowledge we gain increases by sharing and not by saving. This webinar Karpom Karpipom was one such webinar where students, as well as officials, were invited to share their knowledge gained during this pandemic, experiences and their achievements. THE CHRONICLES OF SOCIETY

 “Life is all about facing challenges, whether we slay the problem or stay with it lies in an individual’s perspective”. Our event “The chronicles of society” aimed at bringing out the problems along with the solution. This event mainly focused in addressing two main problems, they are,

  • Problems faced by differently abled persons during COVID-19.

Social Responsibilities for Youth

A Nation’s Culture Resides in the Hearts and in the Soul of its Youth. A webinar in which the youngsters can obtain knowledge about their own social responsibilities from a National Youth Awardee and founder – Atchayam Trust Mr P.Naveen Kumar, who leads his life rendering service to mankind.    TechABLE

“The advance of technology is based on making it fit in so that you don’t even notice it, so it’s part of everyday life” – Bill Gates. TeachABLE is one such event which was organised based on the theme: “Innovative ideas on gadgets used by differently-abled people”.The participants were asked to showcase their work in any one of the forms such as video, E-poster, podcast and blog.  For more info Click here
