“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” – Martin Luther King
Every year Human Rights day – a United Nations designated day – is observed on December 10 to reaffirm the importance of human rights in re-building the world we want, the need for global solidarity as well as our interconnectedness and shared humanity.
This year’s Human Rights Day focuses on the devastating fallout of COVID-19 pandemic on the underprivileged people, children, and women and the need to “build back better by ensuring human rights are central to recovery efforts”.
On account of this year’s Human Rights day, with the theme of 2020- ‘Recover Better – Stand Up for Human Rights’, we the NSS RRC and VBC of Kumaraguru College of technology organized a week long online event named, ‘Know your rights’ from 10th-15th of December. The main motto of this event is to let everyone know about the fundamental rights.
Different pictures and videos were displayed in the stories of our Instagram page. The participants were asked to find words and laws related to Human rights and test how aware they are about it.
The participants were also provided with 4 different topics( protest, violations, punishment, privacy) and were asked to send a mail of their thoughts as a video or art or audio regarding the given topics.
