August 18, 2019 is a significant day marked in our Calendar as the Kumaraguru Community geared up to  welcome into the community a large set of fresher students and their parents! Swagatham is an initiation ceremony of the fresher students of engineering and technology of the batch 2019 – 2023 where they are taken into our hands to be taught, mentored and guided for the next four years, to become the individuals that they want to be with full effectiveness. Through the day the students and parents were guided towards knowing the college, its opportunities and possibilities and understand the ecosystem in which they will engage. There were 1260 students and their parents who participated in Swagatham.

Dr. J Senthil, Principal in his welcome message to the parents spoke about the ecosystem of KCT in which their children will be raised and assured them of their well being while they grow up into responsible adults.

Dr. B.K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Chairman in his message to the parents and students shared the importance of holistic approach to education and how KCT ensures such an education to each student. By quoting Arutchelvar Dr. N. Mahalingam Ayya’s vision that only education can constitute a better nation, the Chairman said how focused is KCT towards the vision. He stated that the responsibility entrusted with the institution is manifold and assured that all their aspirations will be nurtured with great care at KCT. He also reminded the impeccable role played by both the parents and the institution for the progress of their wards.

Shri.M.Balasubramaniam, Correspondent presented the students with the book that reflects the thoughts of Swami Vivekananda on ‘Education’.

Shri. Shankar Vanavarayar, Joint Correspondent during his special address stated that Education is a community growth and the trust with a positive aspiration gives the institution a lot of hope, belief and responsibility. He further enunciated that the next four years will be filled with challenges they cherish and race forward. He assured that the campus ensures holistic progress for every Kctian.


Mr. Anbu Sezhiyan, father of Rajesh Abhishek. H of I year Electronics and Communication Engineering, while sharing his views stated that he has known KCT for many years and that he and his son unanimously decided to get admitted in KCT. He added that the research & incubation centers like Forge gives an extra edge to students during their study here.

Father of Aathmika of I year Information Science and Engineering, Mr. Muthusamy an alumnus of KCT, expressed his excitement to the gathering that he can’t wait to see his child grow up to not only become an engineer but also a humble being as he strongly believed in the motto of KCT that Character is Life.

Dr. Devaki Palaniappan, Head, Department of Science and Humanities who will also be working closely with the first years thanked the gathering and assured a great time for students in KCT. Following Swagatham, students will be having an Immersion Boot Camp, Ignite, where the student leaders from the KCT Leadership Council will guide the new students towards the facilities and specializations in college and how competently they could utilize the various research and service facilities of KCT such as: Re – Student Research Cell, iQube – Product incubation centre, Garage – The student R&D product development centre and various clubs and forums of KCT.   Ignite is fully organized and handled by the senior students, thus efficiently bridging the gap between the school and college life and guiding the new students through their chosen path towards becoming, ‘Engineers of Tomorrow’.
