KCT MINI DIRT BIKE 2018
The Department of Automobile Engineering conducted KCT MINI DIRT BIKE 2018 on February 17, 2018. This flagship event cum competition called for a challenge in design engineering and manufacturing with demonstration of the technical performance of mini bikes, and designed and fabricated/remodeled 60 CC and 80 CC motorcycles. A total of 100 students from engineering colleges in and around Tamil Nadu participated to showcase their skills.
This yearly event was held in the dirt track located on the campus that spreads over an area of 7.0 acres with track length of about 1.7 km. The track contains challenging hurdles, jumps and turns to test the structural rigidity and endurance performance of the bikes and the rider’s skills. The performance of the bikes and the riders were evaluated with a technical inspection on the design, fabrication, rigidity, innovation features, cost report & marketing presentation of the bikes, qualifying them for the rounds ahead. The final Grid-Start Race was conducted for the top 5 bikes under the 80 CC category and top 3 under the 60 CC category. A cash prize of Rs.30000 was awarded to winners under the 60 cc and the 80 cc category and the performers were also recognized for Best Rider & Best Aesthetics. The valedictory address was given by Prof. C Vasantharaj, Director, Kumaraguru Centre for Industrial Research and Innovation. Dr. S. John Alexis HOD – Automobile Engineering, Kumaraguru College of Technology along with the juries and the organizing committee honored the winners with trophies and the prize.
