KALAM 2020 – EVENT REPORT

The Aeromodelling Club of KCT in association with the Aeronautical Department Association conducted various events for the school, college students, and faculties of the Aeronautical Department of KCT on account of the 89th Birth anniversary of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
SCHOOL EVENTS:
1. DRAWING CONTEST:
DESCRIPTION:
The Aeromodelling Club of KCT conducted this competition for school students. On account of celebrating the 89th Birth Anniversary of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam on 15th October 2020, Thursday, this event was conducted from 09:00 am to 09:00 pm accepting their Drawing work through Google forms.
EVENT DESCRIPTION:
“Dream is not that which you see while sleeping, it is something that does not let you sleep” This was said by Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. By his words, we conducted this competition with the motive of picturizing those dreams into beautiful drawings. The theme of this event is “Vision 2020”
PARTICIPATIONS:
There was nearly 70+ Registrations for this event. The Registration was done through Google forms link.
MARKETING:
Posters were created and share on social platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp. And also, through Phone calls and Emails were communicated the event details to various Schools from Tamilnadu.
CONCLUSION:
This is to create some impact on school student’s community to lead their way to Make our nation A Developed Nation. This is the small initiative, to begin with, their innovative and creative ideas through their drawings.
2. ESSAY WRITING:
DESCRIPTION:
In celebration of the 89th Birth Anniversary of Dr A.P.J ABDUL KALAM, our Aeromodelling club of KCT conducted an essay writing contest for school students. The contest was conducted on 15th October 2020 from 9 am to 9 pm through google forms.
PREPARATIONS:
TAMIZHANBU of 3rd-year aeronautical student takes the lead to conduct this contest. Google forms were created for registration. The contest was conducted as a student should Elucidate their ideas on “my dream for a better India”. kindle their ideas and thoughts. The written essay writings from the students are submitted through the link given on or before 15.10.2020 whether the essay written either in English or in Tamil.
PARTICIPANTS:
40 participants across various schools were participated and submitted using google form.
A great essay should contain:
*Analyze the essay prompt.
* Create a thesis statement.
* Outline.
*Begin with the body, not the intro.
*Begin each paragraph with a topic sentence.
*Use credible sources.
* Don’t fake it.
* Conclude your essay.
*Proofread, then proofread again
MARKETING:
Posters were created and share on social platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp. And also, through phone calls were communicated the event details to various schools.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Pursue independent research on a focused topic.
- Develop research and communication skills.
- Develop the skills of creative and critical thinking.
- Engage in a systematic process of research appropriate to the subject.
- Experience the excitement of intellectual discovery.
OUTCOMES:
Good writers are good readers. Writing gives voice to our inner thoughts and allow us to share them. Balanced literacy focuses on developing many skills that good readers and writers possess in an authentic method of communication. Writing makes for better readers and improves comprehension and critical thinking.
CONCLUSION:
This contest was conducted for the school students to make some impact on what DR KALAM sir strongly advocates an action plan to develop India into a strong nation by the year 2020. Overall, this contest was very useful and valuable to the participants. Rewards were provided to the winner and runner of the contest.
Altogether this was a true celebration by remembering the former president of India Dr A.P.J ABDUL KALAM.

COLLEGE EVENTS:
3. QUIZ:
DESCRIPTION:
KALAM 2020 EVENTS were conducted for school and college students, on Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam sir’s 89th birthday. The overall event was conducted by the collaboration of the Aeromodelling Club and Department Association of Aeronautical through Microsoft Teams.
OBJECTIVE:
The main objective of conducting these events, especially quiz for college students was to cheer up all the college students who were been in their houses since March, this year.
MARKETING:
Posters were created and shared through social media like WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. We also have done marketing through email.
SUMMARY:
It was conducted on 15th October 2020 from 9:00 am through MS Teams. It was an online quiz competition with multiple sets of questions based on basic engineering concepts and general aptitude. The quiz had two rounds, first-round comprised of MCQ type questions and second round with connection type questions.
PARTICIPATION AND PRIZE:
Nearly 30 students from various colleges took part in this event. We had announced a prize worth of Rs.500 for the winner and Rs.300 for runner up. We had announced a prize worth of Rs.500 for the winner and Rs.300 for runner up.
CONCLUSION:
The event happened with a lot of fun moments and everyone enjoyed it. Finally, we succeeded with what we had expected.
4. UAV DESIGN CONTEST:
OBJECTIVE:
The main objective is that the participants have to design a UAV under the given design constraints using 2D OR 3D design in software or paper, deliver a presentation about their design and participate in teams. The event was conducted on 15th October, 2020 from 09:00am to 09:00pm via MS Teams.
EVENT DESCRIPTION:
The UAV design competition was held for all engineering students who had registered for the event in virtual mode and their design reports were submitted by them on or before 14, October. Each team presented their design to the jury, Mr Vijayanandh and explained them. They were evaluated based on the design criteria, component selections, innovative ideas. Many aeronautical students participated in the contest.
PARTICIPATIONS:
5 teams from various colleges participated.
OUTCOMES:
This contest helped the students to involve in designing their UAVs thereby gained more technical knowledge and understanding and also brought out their innovative ideas in the field of UAV. This also helped in enhancing their presentation skills as well.
STAFF EVENT
5. FUN FROM HOME:
DESCRIPTION:
Aeromodelling club of KCT in association with the Aeronautical Department Association conducted the event “FUN FROM HOME” which mainly involves the participation of the faculties of Aeronautical Department. This is a stress-relieving event for the staffs with fun games. The event took place on 16th October 2020 at 5.00 p.m. via MS Teams.
PREPARATIONS:
The event included three levels, Connection, Gibberish words, and debate. Club members prepared a presentation of questions and quizzes. A total of 5 teams were created with staff as heads and students under them.
MARKETING:
Posters were created and shared via WhatsApp and Instagram.
PARTICIPATION:
Around 30 participants attended the event, including staff. There was active participation of all as expected.
OUTCOMES:
As the event name goes, it was filled with fun. The staff commented that this was a good initiative and they felt the togetherness.
