KCT stands today as an institution of excellence in technical education with 34 years of illustrious service to the students, many of whom are shining as leaders and contributors to development, across the world. Graduation Day is a hallmark event for KCT where students, parents, teachers and the institution as a while join together to celebrate the academic success of every student as they graduate.

Graduates 2017
Graduation Ceremony 2018 of the graduating students of the batch 2017 happened on the 14 and 15 July, 2018. 1702 students from 13 Undergraduate Engineering Departments and 14 Masters Departments graduated. 215 students secured first class with distinction and 1269 students secured first class. Graduation 2018 happened over three sessions. All three sessions commenced with Dr. J Senthil, the Principal presenting the advancements and achievements of the faculty, students and college in 2017 – 2018. Significant of it being 318 research papers published in Scopus Indexed journals, 27 patents received and 19 MoUs signed with International institutions for collaborations on research.

Chief Guests
The conferment of degrees happened over three sessions. Chief Guests of the sessions were Shri P.B. Kotur, General Manager and Global Head – Higher Education, Wipro Technologies, Dr. Dileep N. Malkhede, Adviser, All India Council for Technical Education, Shri Ramanan Ramanathan, Mission Director, Atal Innovation Mission, Govt. of INDIA and Shri Sriram T.V, Vice President – Engineering, Center Head Coimbatore, Robert Bosch.

Other dignitaries
The graduating students had gathered along with their parents for the Graduation ceremony. The conferment of degrees happened over three sessions. The dignitaries present along with the Chief Guests over all three sessions were Shri Balasubramaniam, Correspondent, Kumraguru Institutions, Shri Shankar Vanavarayar, Joint Correspondent, Kumraguru Institutions, Dr. V. Raju, President, KCT, Dr. J. Senthil, Principal, KCT and Heads of academic departments.

He was the Chief Guest for the forenoon session on 14 July. Dr. V. Raju, President, who introduced the Chief Guest, said P.B. Kotur has dedicated a life time for the technological advancements in the country and has been instrumental in initiating several game changing technology initiatives in India.

‘Graduation symbolises an event of dignity and transformation’, Shri. P.B. Kottur started his graduation speech with this message. He told students the 3 Cs for success in life. He said, ‘the 3 Cs are Content assimilation, Conduct practiced and Character carried are the key to success’ and added, ‘If you are thinking of a great career, then strengthening the fundamentals and foundation for yourself is the key’. His question to the students on the legacy that they are going to build was indeed a valuable question for each one to introspect. He said, ‘The generation earlier to mine raised and nurtured a green environment, the current generation is developing technologies so what are you going to do next for the generation next to you to follow?’

Dr. Dileep N. Malkhede

He was the Chief Guest for the afternoon session on 14 July. Dr. V. Raju, the President in his introduction to Dr. Dileep said he has an illustrious 29 years of service in teaching and research and has been instrumental in raising the quality of technical education in India through several AICTE programmes and schemes. He has also helped revolutionise the special scholarship scheme of the Prime Minister and brought hundreds of Jammu and Kashmir students into mainstream higher education. Another key initiative of Dr. Malkhede was the Smart India Hackathon 2017, the nationwide students’ competition for solving citizen’s problems.

Dr. Malkhede who referred the graduates as Princes and Princesses shared with them the pathways to higher education. He enlightened the fresh graduates, their parents and teachers on the possibilities of Higher Education in India and types of universities in India of very high potential. He spoke about the need for being educated higher and constantly and said what would destroy a country is not the war or weapons but youngsters stop getting educated.

Dr. Malkhede conferred the degrees to the undergraduate and postgraduate students of Aeronautical, Automobile, Civil, Mechanical and Mechantorics engineering & Fashion and Textile technology.

Shri Ramanan Ramanathan

He was the Chief Guest on 15 July. Dr. B.L.Lakshmi Meera, FORGE introduced him to the gathering. Mr. Ramanan was the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of CMC Ltd., a subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). He has served for more than three decades at TCS after graduating from IIT Bombay.

He inspired the young men and women by sharing some of life’s big truths and strategies in its accessible form. He said that ‘it is important to be on the learning curve constantly for creativity to become natural and creativity simply means connecting the things around you’. He added that anybody should ‘Dream with a plan, put the plan to action, act with commitment and be humble’ and that youngsters should be change creators and not just change followers.

He was the Guest of Honour for the graduation session on 15 July. Sriram T V is the Vice President of Engineering & Centre Head at Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions, Coimbatore. He started his career as a Senior Engineer in Bharath Heavy Electricals Limited, Bangalore after graduating from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. Aside from his corporate responsibilities, Mr. Sriram T V has a keen interest in arts, culture, social services and economic empowerment of people.

People are interested in solutions and not in products so youngsters should seek towards creating solutions shared Shri Shriram T V. He acclaimed the association of Bosch with KCT and the soundness of the students who find their career with Bosch. He said to the students how business models are changing and why both passion and purpose are essential for sustainability.
