WHAT IS CLOUD COMPUTING ?

In the ongoing trendy and techy world,Cloud computing plays a major role. Did you know? Yes! It paves its way in services, which includes, ”servers, storage, databases, networking, software and analytics”, via the internet with which you can just Login and access your data even in a remote location through a single medium which we simply call as “CLOUD”.

It is one of the best and popular options for people as well as organizations from, ”big to small corporations and also government agencies to private agencies” where they can store numerous files which can be retrieved and accessed anywhere in the world from any device with which you can connect to the internet.

ANYONE! ANYTIME! ANYWHERE!

UNDERSTANDING CLOUD COMPUTING :

Well, rather in understanding cloud computing we should move on to the Cloud deployment models that is, Cloud computing can be public and private. Public cloud computing provides services at free of cost(services are stored off-site and it can be accessed via the internet), whereas private provides services for certain peoples(may be a

single organization) as a paid service. There is also a hybrid computing which provides services as both public and private(open source).

HOW DO USERS ACCESS CLOUD SERVICES ?

Users using various operating systems or different platforms for accessing the cloud services should be served.Yes, taking this as a concern cloud services deliver their services with the web based interface in any intelligent electronic device.

Say, Cloud offers three ways of service models, among which you can choose according to your desire. Let’s move on to its types….

(1) INFRASTRUCTURE AS A SERVICE :

In Simple it’s just like building a new house.Okay! Let’s collate this to the IaaS service model of Cloud computing where it just acts like a host, which provides access to fundamental resources such as physical machines, virtual machines etc.. All these resources are available to end users via virtualization.Rather than buying our own equipment, we can use IaaS on-demand. Simply pay for what you use based on the number of servers.

PROS: Scalable, Provider responsible for managing the infrastructure.

CONS: Issues in security

EXAMPLE PRODUCT: AWS

(2) PLATFORM AS A SERVICE :

It’s like buying an empty house. you just need to develop, run and manage applications without worrying about infrastructure and operating systems which will be maintained by service providers.

PROS: Cost effective, Quick deployment of web applications.

CONS: Developers are limited to providers lang environment.

EXAMPLE PRODUCT : Google app engine

(3) SOFTWARE AS A SERVICE :

Unlike IaaS and PaaS, ”SaaS” is just like living in a hotel, that is you don’t need to get worried of maintaining an application, instead you just sign in and the cloud providers make them available via the internet.

PROS: Universally accessible

CONS: Browser issues

EXAMPLE PRODUCT: Microsoft 365, Google Drive

CONCLUSION :

Here I conclude that ,

Cloud is about how you do computing,

not where you do computing
