“BLAZE STORM”, a Fire Safety Workshop was organized by Kumaraguru Youth Red Cross on 14 September 2019.The Workshop introduced the participants to the fundamentals and practice of Fire Safety. To begin with, the Chief Guest for the Workshop, Mr. Goldwin Vijay Anandh.J, Project Director, NIFS spoke on ‘Introduction to Safety’. Following this, Mr.Prathap.G – HSE Faculty Trainer, NIFS, elaborated on the types and causes of fire accidents. Mr.Kathirvel, Fire-fighting Life Skill Trainer explained the audience about various fire extinguishing strategies. This was followed by a session on providing first aid to fire accident victims by Mr. Noyal Jayaraj. Ensuing this was a hands-on training session by the NIFS Staff and resource people, on the operation of hydraulic pump to extinguish fire. Fire safety measures and extinguishing techniques were elaborately demonstrated. More than 100 participants learnt about the mechanism of fire formation, fire prevention practices, dealing with different classes of fire and using portable fire extinguishers to fight small fires.
