The inauguration of the Association of Biotechnologists (ABT) was held on 16 October 2019 at the Seminar Hall C complex. The event started with the prayer song followed by welcome address by ABT Secretary Ms.Jennifer of third year Bio Technology. Head of the department Dr.N.Saraswathi during the felicitation address wished the new office bearers to scale greater heights. Following this, the Principal of KCT, Dr.Srinivasan in his address encouraged the DA members to contribute with ownership and responsibility The chief guest of the day was Dr.Kalpana Duraisamy, one of the pioneers in the field of enzyme technology application in textile industry. She shared her valuable experience in the field through a presentation and also made the students aware of the vast opportunities available in Biotechnology. She also threw light on the opportunities in terms of internships and fellowships and called upon the students to concentrate on R&D to bring glory to the nation. The annual year plan of the association was read out by the DA president Ms.Geeta of final year, BioTechnology. The annual plan included ideathon, an event for budding scientists to showcase their ideas. The plan also included seminars and workshops for the students. After that, the members of DA took charge and the chief guest inaugurated the association for the academic year 2019-20 by pinning the badges to all members. Ms.Ashra Sindhikkaa, PG representative of ABT thanked each everyone who made their valuable presence to the event.
