For a world, it is increasingly dependent on the internet just to function; a reduction in time delay is critical. The mobile network that’s used around the world to make calls, messages and surf the web is 4G but Now, it is replaced by? you guessed it!

It’s 5G.

A new faster network that has the potential to rework the web. 5G is a 5th generation of wireless network technology and so all the big carriers are working on building out their 5G networks right now, Verizon, AT&T sprint were all working on 5G.

Top three companies to invest in 5G Network are,

  • Ericsson(ERIC)
  • Nokia(NOK)
  • Qualcomm(QCOM)

5G is a new form of network designed to connect virtually everyone and everything together, like smart devices, vehicles, even industrial machinery. 5G will coexist with 4G networks until coverage is expanded but it will eventually evolve into a standalone network that operates individually. 5G mostly appeals fast response times referred to as latency. Latency is the time to respond to each other over any wireless network that takes for devices. 3G networks have a response time of over around 100 milliseconds, 4G overs around 30 milliseconds while 5G networks predict latency figures as low as 1 millisecond this will result in a new world of anything possible with an established network connection. In one particular area using data heavy application, 5G organizers could pay for an increased slice of the network, boosting internet capacity and thus improving its visitors online experience.

Higher frequencies carry more information because we are encoding our information into the wave cycles. Our measure of frequency is hertz, but 1 Hz means is that 1 wave cycles are reaching us per second, 10 hertz means is 10 wave cycles reaching us per second, 190 megahertz means 190 million wave cycles are reaching us per second because we are encoding information into the wave cycles, that means we can encode more information into higher frequencies waves. Up until now we have been using frequencies between 700 MHz and about 2500 MHz (700 million wave cycles per second to 2500 million wave cycles per second). 5G however is looking to use frequencies as high as 90 gigahertz that’s 90 billion waves per second so 5G will allow higher download speeds and lower latency.

Application:

Self driving cars require a continuous stream of data that raped communication between vehicles in the network and allow even more devices to join the network. The quicker the knowledge is delivered to autonomous vehicles the higher and safer they will run.

5G vs 4G  What’s the difference?

5G is a software defined network which means that it won’t replace cables entirely, it replaces the need for them by largely operating on the cloud instead. This means it is 100 times better capacity than 4G which will dramatically improve the internet. For example, to download a movie it would take about 26 hrs for 3G. For 4G,it would be 6 minutes but for 5G it would be just over 3 to 5 seconds.

The 4G networks respond to our commands in just 50 milliseconds. In 5G, it takes about one millisecond that is 400 times faster than a blink of an eye.

5G will provide a much more personalized web experience using a technique called network slicing. It’s a way of making separate wireless networks within the cloud allowing users to make their own bespoke network.

Conclusion:

Everyday technologies like this can seem like magic until you peel back the layers to their earliest iteration and see that they are just a product of many years of problem solving with each successive generation adding more complexity. To create the internet of thing, 5G has a lot of potential and know that, it’s not dangerous.
